You are Egypt, and your starting wonder is the Oracle of Delphi. Only thing is, another player starts as the Arabs, which has Religion to begin with. Will your wonder be obsolete from the start then, or will it work until another civilization researches (obtains?) religion?

Same thing concerns the pyramids/monarchy/english combination...

When I think about it, I also wonder whether it is any point at all building the pyramids if the english are in the game...

I'm 99% sure it only obsoletes if someone actually researches the tech.

Yes it's true. If i start with China for example i can't make obsolate the Stonehenge at the medieval era because i didn't research it. But these bonus are counted for the cities (only bonus as +1 science each city, +1 prod, +1 gold, etc..)

anyone know if the wonder is obsolete if the person that started with the tech sold it to someone else?

No, because he had not researched it. That civ has to see: you have researched this tech.. Now...

It's what i remember

so if every body gets that tec from buying it from someone else the wonder would never go obsolete?

Good question.. I think it won't be obsolete but i'm not sure

So if another civ starts with it researched, do you still get the bonus for being the first person to research it manually or no?

I think if somebody start with these techs block others because there will be some problems in the case of for example China with another civ, talking about +1 science each city.

Definitely "starting" with techs block first to bonuses. You could see this in the demo when you never got a bonus for researching Democracy or Code of Laws because the Romans and Greeks were always in the game.

has anybody figured out if a wonder will go obsolete if everybody traded for a tech such as monarchy.
