2K Liz mentioned that the PS3 team is not fully on board with forums yet so you may not hear an answer from them until closer to release.
I would guess no. Only because most PS3 games are 720p and even BioShock was 720p on 360, however it was being upscaled, so 360 was able to make it 1080p. As far as I know, PS3 can't upscale, but some TV's can. So just guessing with 720p.

that would be bad news though because in theory then bioshock on ps3 would look worse? i've seen practically every game released on both systems side by side and xbox owns ps3 almost everytime, in some cases i cant even believe the games are released on ps3 when they look so poor. they wouldn't press an inferior lookin version a year later surley? i hope to god its 1080p however i'm not up on whats involved there, surely its possible? what res are the games created at? it wont be less than 1080p if the pc version had that? i'd love to have this cleared up. i might even email them direct :)

Let me be clear, that this is only from my understanding, which may be wholly wrong. *Surely that is a confidence booster*
Basically, 360 is upscaling many 720p games to 1080p. PS3 can only run those same games the way they were created in 720p because it can't upscale internally. I am not helping much, but if you find out what BioShock actually is (on 360), 720 or 1080 (regardless of what it can be upscaled to). Then you will know what it will be on PS3. It probably will run at whatever level 360 runs it before upscaling.

thanks for the reply duke. i do hope your wrong though, i understand that the xbox upscales but that doesn't mean that the ps3 version will be 720p it really needs to be 1080p to give it the edge. PS3 owners must feel cheated? i'm not talking about bioshock here i'm generalising, i mean having folked out myself for the system early on it has yet to really impress me and believe me i've give many a chance to, i do hope this is not another case of the xbox version being superior asthetically, especially since i was told the ps3 is the better system? its been a year and a lot has happened in this time for ps3, call of duty looked amazing on ps3 i just hope this game gets the same resolusion. can any of the team clear this up?

I'm not sure if they'll push for this or not for BioShock2, at least not as a native 1080p game which there are only a handful of. I'm not sure we'll see too many native 1080p games this generation of gaming. Of course those with 1080p TVs will be able to upscale but this doesn't compare with having a native 1080p source such as the Blu Ray player provides. 720p is still considered the sweet spot for games where framerate doesn't have to be sacrificed for graphical enhancements. Next generation of consoles I would expect all games to have native 1080p (except for Nintendo ;) )

UPDATE: Sony revealed that the PS3 has an upscaler, which until a January update, was inactive due to function problems. It is now working so you can expect BioShock in at least 1080i.
IMO PS3 is good and will last maybe a year or so longer than 360 will, but not because of quality games. Blu-Ray is a nice advantage, so while the hardware is not leaps ahead of 360, it is going to last a little longer. Multiplatform games tend to come out better on 360 about 3 times out of 4. 360 has more appealing exclusives to me. And they are both HD and 360 has achievements. Sure, trophies are coming soon, for BioShock also, but they took a while. But those are the main reasons I am kind of worried about getting PS3. But I still will eventually.

I was pretty sure that the PS3 was upscaling well before January. It upscales all PS1 games, and I think it does it for PS2 games as well, not sure though my PS3 isn't Backwards Compatible. :(

Actually, those games had quality problems until the update went into effect. And I am not sure, but the article made it sound like January '08, but it could have meant '07. Anyways it now upscales PS1 and PS2 games to proper quality, which it was actually degrading before. And PS3 games now too.

Hi guys,
Bioshock PS3 WILL support 1080i and 1080p.
Oh sweet! That's fantastic, I would have been happy with 720p. My TV can do 1080i though, so that's cool. :) Thanks for the info.

BioShock on 360 supported 1080i and 1080p. So I don't think that is what makes it better, I think that just makes it on par with where it should be, but the extra content in my opinion certainly makes it better. :D

It totally makes BioShock and many other games look beautiful. Since this is regarding the PS3, I will also mention that Blu-Ray has extraodinary picture.

Take her to a store with some sort of Blu-Ray set up. Then hypnotize her as she stares at the beauty.
I just showed my parents all the stuff I couldn't see and the text I couldn't read (The specification text just before the BioShock main menu appears is great for showing how hard things are to see), then took 'em to the Sony style store. Had 'em starin at Blu-Ray display setups for 20 mins. and they were sold. I chose a Samsung 40" 1080p just because of preferences.
It worked on my parents, but I did have to pay for some, seeing as there was no occasion.

See, that's funny. Cause when I went and bought a 37" 720p TV, my dad stared at me like I'd just dragged in a bloody corpse. And I bought it myself! He thought it was a waste of money. I didn't bother showing him how the SD TV I had had been cutting off the corners of every game I played, not like he'd have cared.

Yeah, I think it was upscaled. Thing is, unless they made it natively 1080p, it is also going to be a 720p game that is being upscaled on PS3. PS3 upscales some games as well, so I am not sure about this one.

I miss having parents willing to help foot the bill. Luckily the battle is won anyway. I just have to "save responsibly and not blow your entire paycheck on it." Why she gets so hung up on things like bills and food I'll never know. :D
