Artifacts on the new Demo map

I could not find any of the artifacts on the map .. I tried searching the entire map .. defeated all the barbarians .. entered all the friendly villages .. and even though they kept telling me that there were two artifacts to be discovered .. i could not find them ..

pls help ..

Serach the right had side of the waters top Atlantis, bottom is the castle or what ever it is you get 2 or 3 great people i think.

The two artifacts are Atlantis & City of Gold which are both found in the Northern Ocean between the ends of the continent. Galleons are required to reach them.

thanks a ton guys .. i was really getting frustrated .. i will try looking there tonight ..

and if city of gold also requires galleons .. by the time it is discovered .. 200 gold would hardly make a difference isnt it ?

I found it weird that there were only two (or by the time the knowledge was learned of how many were unfound, it said there were 2). So either there were only two to start with, or the AI was finding one extremely early.

I figured one was Atlantis, but had a helluva time trying to find the other. Finally I found the Lost City of Gold (using a Galley) at the very top.

The gold city is very good, and it gives 200 on the ancient, 250 on the medieval, 300 on the industrial and 350 on the modern era. If you take it on the ancient era you could say you have won. It is very good because you could rush very fast without waiting tons of turns. And for the atlantis wait technologies that at least need 100 beakers to take it, and if you are not sure move some ships there

This may sound dumb, but I am new to this game. On the demo my warriors went into an area after killing off the barbarians and it said something about artifacts might be in the area and to search for them...

How do you search for them?

am not much of an expert either .. but to answer your question .. unless the villages (either friendly or barbarian )show you the exact location of the artifact, you just have keep exploring the map .. it may be any where ..

for instance .. on this week's demo map .. the city of gold artifact and the atlantis artifact are present on the north eastern edge of the map .. u need a galley to get to city of gold .. but for atlantis u need a galleon since it is located in the ocean .. hope that helped ..

They are distict (and very obvious) tiles, which give you bonuses. Atlantis gives you 3 techs (very useful in the modern era I find) City of gold gives you gold (oooh. shiny!)

What follows is apparently not on the demo map, but correct me if I'm wrong
Knights Templar castle gives you an advanced unit, and confucious's castle gives you some great people usually 2 or 3.

There's also the Ark of the Covenent that builds a temple or cathedral in each of your cities.

The unit giving artifacts give you them where the artifact is, so you have to get them back to your area first (unless you want your new knight unit to fight their way home!)

They are usually on an island apart from atlantis, which is in the middle of the sea.

You don't need warriors with you to find the artifacts, just use the guys that come with the boat/ship. Atlantis all you have to do is cross over it with the boat/ship.

yeah .. use a galley to start with and use the galleon as and when they are available to u .. most of these artifacts are usually on islands ..

I don't think there is an Ark or Knights on the new demo map. I haven't searched all the land masses, but i haven't seen it yet. next play i'm going to build a Galley early so I can do lots of exploring, even if it does set back my planned domination victory...
