the devs made it incredably easy to defend but not attack. is there something i am missing, or is that just the nature of the game?

this game is awsome but has one MAJOR flaw. the game suddenly ends at 2100 ad. WTF. i know that the devs are trying to keep the game shorter, but this just completely ruins the experience for me. At least make it an option to turn it on or off. who wants to spend 2-4 hours trying to outwit your opponent only to discover that no one wins because you "ran out of turns". i am a new civ player and if this is not fixed via xbox live patch i can see many potential consumers being turned off by this feature. if you are playing chess you dont set a turn limit before hand, why should they set one in this board game-esk video game?
Have you read some threads? This game is made to be FAST because it is on a console. 2100 is too far i think. In civilization 4 i have never played a game on the about 2020 or more. Start a new game, but how the game didn't finished? Have you played chieftain? Why didn't you win in that year? I have won always before the year 2100, it is not so difficult

I think it was designed as an empire building game rather than a war game, if you make attacking too attractive/ easy then you'd lose the a lot of that.

I dont' see what is wrong with that all. Too many devlopers go the opposite way. I think Firaxis should appluaded for this decision

Time Victory has always been a part of Civ games. Yes there is still a winner if you reach 2100

But this isn't a civilization game. Its a civilization revolution game

Where does it say the "Revolution" part means a more attacking game?

I know that I only have the ability to play the demo, but I always stay a little ahead of my enemies tech-wise, then hit them with catapault armies. In the full game, I would take this to cannons and then tanks, using other forces to guard my cities. Don't forget, the best defense is a good offense ;)

Yeah I don't mind it the way it is. It's easy to defend so you can concentrate on winning in other ways which I find enjoyable. Having said that, it isn't impossible to attack either if you focus your tech study appropriately. I've won a domination victory on deity, it was the hardest victory to get, but it is possible.

This is true.
In the demo i found it rather easy to simply create several armies of Horsemen to defeat my foes.Archers work wonders for defense,And i can imagine that with the full game,it wont be terribly hard to out manuver youre foes.
I read the IGN preview as to the IGN folks threatened several people with war and got technology and were able to keep units where they were.
At one point,IGN was able to build bombers whilst the competition still had archers for defense. As im sure you can understand, the opponents were blown away in a matter of a few turns.I came very close to a domination victory several times in the demo,so i can only imagine when i have a full hour's worth of turns, things will be much easier.
