I was playing the demo(in the states, still dont have the game yet) and was defeated by the Aztecs.

Heres what i dont understand about my defeat.I had troops in front of my city, and when the aztecs conquered me,I had been at war with them.I checked to see that the Tekkies had used the same troops,I also checked to see that they attacked in a direction from which my Warriors should have stopped,or atleast halted. The next game,i made it a priorite to wipe the Tekkies out,and i did so very early on.

One more thing.Me and my freind were playing the demo online,He was trying to learn how to play,so we agreed to take out the computer player nearest to me.I built a settlement that he could not pass without declaring war on me.Will there be some sort of mode where i can have AI on,and he will be able to pass through my colonies without the potential destruction of mine or his own units? With his declaration of war,it seemed nearly impossible for me and him to attack together.Luckily there was a mountainous region near the right end of The Aztec General's base which wasnt defended.I dug in and began raids on that area,he sent a spy in and further made my job of taking his capital.

He learned how to play,But he really doesnt like how cooperative play is nigh impossible without the threat of an accidental mistake.

Er... sorry, what were the "couple of questions for those with the full version of the game"?

Sorry, it's late (1am) here in the UK and I've consumed too much alcohol, so I apologise if I've missed your point!

The central questions.

Do you have to declare war on someone to pass through their territory? Not for the AI,But for other players.

Why didnt my warriors stop the attack from the Aztecs?

1- Yes, it isn't as civ4
2- They have the auto heal when they win a battle. You can kill them in 1 round or nothing

No battle was ever commenced though.

I dunno about an auto heal,Im sure youre right,But shouldnt my men have atleast attempted to stop the taking of the capital?

You say your warriors were in front of your capitol. If they arent on the city tile then you can just capture the city. His unit might have had March upgrade and therefore could move one more tile per round.

You also get some kind of good defense bonus (not sure what it is) if you have troops in any city, and even more so in the capital. I'm sure you get a Palace bonus for the capital, but I'm not sure about other cities.

I'm confused now of what you want to say :P You were asking about how they could take your city and I replied and now you change topic? Or am I misunderstanding you?
