So I made a third attempt at getting the 1000AD achievement last night, and I decided to try to use the Aztecs for their healing ability in combat. I can't even believe how well the game went. I first rushed out a warrior on the first turn with gold, then I immediately gained access to a Galley via a hut reward. Two turns later, I found the Knights Templar with my Galley, which gave me a free knight. This is literally in 3200BC or so. I was able to slaughter two of the local opponents right off the bat, and then fast teched to horses and spies for the rest of them.
Needless to say, the final opponent put up a hell of a fight with an insane amount of archer armies, but I finally broke through with spies, my knight (who by the end of it had 5 upgrades), and my horsemen armies.
Achievement unlocked around 400AD, only because the Arabs put up such a huge fight, and boy did I have fun. :D
