Can anyone answer definately if the achievements of winning with each of the different start leaders can be done on multiplayer as i am tired of winning on King and Deity takes too long to go through with each leader.
Not normally bothered about achievements but i've been a civ follower from day and i'd rather play against others and earn at the same time.

achievements are won in GOTW or single player.

Rather than start another 360 achievements thread I though I'd add my observations here.
"Absolute Power is Kind of Neat - Win without changing governments on King difficulty or higher."
Read the name as well as the description, Absolute Power is the key to it. You cannot earn this achievement as the Romans or the Greeks and probably not as the English. I tried as the Greeks, remained as a democracy for the whole game but failed to get the achievement. On my next game controlling the French I remained as a despot and it worked fine.
"Power Never Takes a Back Step - Win with only one city on at least King difficulty."
All you've got to do here is never build a second city. Captured and culture flipped cities are fair game. I got this when playing as the Mongols, you get a lot of free cities from the barbarians. Just remember this when you get your free settler at 100 gold; add him to an existing city, don't start a new one.
