Ok thank you for coming and checking this out.
First thing Ive seen some post about how far you can go based on years in the game. So my question is based on the full game how long or how many turns do we get?
Second when you pur archer armys in a city including more than one the defense go up dramictcally. Say to 24 or like the aztecs 29. However with that being said is there a way to make more than one army attack at once so even it out. So that way if I had warriors they wouldnt just have 3 attacks?
Oh and to go with that the orcale thing that predicts the futre of your warriors. I really do not care for. Because As a stratgy you would want to wear down you oppent army by sacrifcing some of you troops but since the orcale doesnt not alow that it kinda stinks perfect exapmle about 21 horsemen armys sorunding greek I cant combine them in attack??? Nor can I attack and wear them down because of the oracle
Thanks for reading and maybe somebuddy can clear this up. :)

Welcome to the forums!
The game goes to 2100AD. I am unsure on the amount of turns that is.
An early archer army defending a city is indeed a challenge. I do not think any amount of warrior armies will ever defeat a archer army defending a city. You will need a few armies of horses or Legions to attempt. Try and get them promoted first. The best idea is to use an army of Catapults escorted by an army of archers. The Catapult is the best early attack unit.
As for the Oracle Wonder. I have heard 2 different reports. Some people say it stops you from attacking. Others say it gives you a choice.
In my experience the Oracle gives me a choice to pull back or go ahead anyway so I can wear-down the enemy.

The orcale complety stopped me from attacking the greeks with my horsemen.
But see my point is why canachers have defence as a muilple group but attackers cant does anyone see what I mean.
Oh and yes capaults always nice to have.

The arches are put on a defence stance at the city they are guarding, so in a sence they are not playbale, until you activate them. In a defence mode I belive their sats go up to defend more. Rather you are the attacker, which means you have a lower defence. Also attack from a hill (elevated area) to have a greater effect.
What I use is an army of horses, to start the take over of the city, then send in an amry of catapults to finish the job. I use gournd troops basicly to prevent a city from expanding.
I only have the demo, but I did manage to beat the game/demo (domination victory) 5 turns shy of the demo ending. I read somewhere here in these forums you get 120 turns more then the demo. I guess the easiest way to find out is see what date your start with (1000 b.c.???) and calculate the number of turns it take to reach 2100a.d. each turn is 100 year I belive.
As for the oricle id gave me a choice on if I wanted to continue the attack. But I don't build them no more.

Yeah I do use hills and I understand that but still wouldnt mind being able to cordanate attacks with more than one army at once therfore increasing your attack. Oh and I really hate the aztecs with that ailty to heal always fun ot deal with.

OK, i get it. what you want to do is have 4 or any number you want to attack at the same time. In which they do, because you have 1 turn to move all your units. So say you have two catapults armies, 1 horse armie and 2 foot soldiers around the city, basicly one movement away from attacking the city. when your turn comes up to move them use one army to attack, then you use the second army to do the same etc. it is basicly one move because you only progress the 100 years after all your units took an action.
you get it?? basicly you told all your untis to attack one after another before your turn ended, and 100 years have passed.

yes I belive the aztecs are the only civi to have the ability from the get go. Other then that you have to aquire that ability from succesful combat wins. But if you continue to attack the same city it's defence's drop dramaticly. If your really having trouble, send a spy do disrupt the defence, and army production.

When i has those 21 horsemen armys and the about 5 horsemens units on his production so that it would slow him down. My spy rings which is 3 spys couldnt even enter the city which leads back to the orcale.

I guess the easiest way to find out is see what date your start with (1000 b.c.???) and calculate the number of turns it take to reach 2100a.d. each turn is 100 year I belive.Actually it starts off with 100 then goes down to I think 50, 25 eventually to 1 year per turn. It ends at 2100, but there are over 300-400 turns in between, more than enough for a full game feeling.

Cool I thought it was 100yrs each turn, but if the years get cut inhalf as the game progresses, i may just go on ahead and get the game when it arrives July 7. Thx for that info.

I don't think it goes down to 1 year per turn. pretty sure it sticks at 2 until the end of the game
