I'm trying to get the Here's looking at you kid achievement for the XBOX 360, I just need Plato to complete the set of Great ones appearing but I've played about 8 full games (with him being the only one I need, about 35 full games in total) and he's still a no-show.

I've heard that there are several other people having difficulty getting their last great person to appear even though they've had one left to get for several different games, (although it's not always Plato, its been Saragon and Cheops for others).

Is there some sort of requirement needed to get the last one to appear (certain game type), or am I just unlucky.

The Civiopedia also quotes certain tech requirements needed for a particular great person to appear, but they still do regardless if you have the required tech or not (e.g Wilber Wright still turns up as the 1st or 2nd one you get and your nowhere near having the Advanced Flight tech the Civopedia says you need)

Press your right bumper and see how many turns it'll take for your culture to expand. At this point play till it'll take one more turn and save the game. Now end turn and see who you get. If it's not him, then reload and try again. I believe it should be different every time.

Unfortunatly, it's not.

Tried that, you get the same great people turning up, even if you play to the end (2100 AD), go back and reload your first turn the same ones turn up in the same order.

Quitting to the menu and reloading the game from there doesn't make a difference either.

Does anyone have all of them? Did you play online or anything?

Hmm that's weird, since in one of my reloaded games, I initially got a Great Engineer, and in a second time I got something completely different... May have been the choices you make I guess.

I'd suggest playing through in Cheiftan level, playing for a CULTURE victory, buiding civs next to your opponants and stealing their great leaders every time they get one. Remember don't destroy them, just box them in so they can't do much of anything (destory a few if it helps). Then just keep ending the turn till 2070 at which point win with a culture victory, or keep going. If you build any culture increasing thing, you should get a new great leader every 5-10 turns. I was getting like 1000 culture per turn in one of my games, and the requirements for a culture expansion just kept going from 5000 to 6000 to 7000 and so on (increasing by around 1000-1500), meaning it'd take one more turn than before, but the more cities you have the better.

The choices you make before hand (Where you placed your capital, what turn you started building a warrior, what tech you first started researching, simple stuff like that) are what determines the outcome of future situations.

Edit: But more on topic, I think that certain great people are attached to certain techs. My best guess is for you to play completely different than usual and hope for it.

But I've played many games (on different scenarios, with different nations (I've won at least one game with all nations), different difficulties, completed all victory conditions on deity) with only one great person left and I've still never got him. (It's the only achievement I need)

And I've done things like used spies to steal great people, still Plato's not one of them. I've build temples, cathedrals, courthouses (with Magna Carta Wonder) to max out my culture per turn. I've had about 30 Great people turn up in a game, and he's not been one of them.

The tech requirements listed in the Civopedia mean nothing, Its not unusual to get Wilber Wright in about 3000 BC and the Civopedia says he requires flight tech. They just seem to turn up regardless of if you have the tech requirement or not (even on deity so its not difficulty linked).

I'm just wondering does anyone have all of them and did they do anything special for him (or her, whoever the last one was for them) to appear. (Like play online or something).

Thanks for the suggestions though, I love this game.

Yeah, I've got two Great Builders left (Nebuchadnezzar and Imhotep), it was three yesteday but I got da Vinci today. I've tried rushing their relevant techs but I can't seem to trigger their appearance. I tried a cultural game on Chieftan to see if I could get it through attrition, but come 2100 I still had loads of cultural stages left (I had 15 cities of 31 population producing around 1900 culture a turn, and my stats only showed around 40 culture levels achieved, so I don't know if it's really possible to get through all 46 Great People in one game.

?Question?

If another Civilization uses the power of a great citizen to add money/population etc. to themselves, does that mean you can never get those people again in that game? a'la sacrafice. Or can they reapear at a later date in your city, or someone else's?

Just wondering if I ever try to collect them all, by building spy units to kidnap them.

Can't you steal him from another nation?

Anyone figured out a definitive way to get certain Great Persons yet?

No, that doesn't register them on your wall. They have to appear for you, stealing doesn't count.

And to the above, as far as I know you can't force certain great ones to appear. The tech requirements in the Civopedia are not needed, the appear at random regardless of what techs you have.
