Playing Miz is Here, captured most of thier cities including capital, nuked them, about 2 turns till I have won then all of a sudden, bam, timer stops and say waiting for Miz is Here, I try to message Miz is Here, Xbox dashboard says they are online but away, I try to message, no response. So now I am looking at a screen, only thing I can do at this point is turn it off because I don't think they will be coming back.

So either I am the unluckiest person in the world is something shady is going on.


EDIT: Looks like I'm the unluckiest man in the world, convincingly beating undefeated board leader with 2 turns till the win, It desync'd or I lost connection (must have been very breif, as dashboard was fine, net was fine, etc) , I lost... Good game though...

Not saying that this is what is going on, but that actually sounds a bit like a denial of service attack, or standbying. Some people do that on games like halo to prevent themselves losing.

Well I want to give Miz the benefit of the doubt. What seems strange to me is that both times it happened I check Miz's profile and it says "Away for X mins, playing head to head" and he does not respond to messages. If I did DC for a extremely brief period of time (my net seems ok, XBox dashboard/live is ok) why would it state he is "away for X mins" instead of "online" like it normally does? Also, why no response to messages (when he normally does respond at other times)

But on the other hand if he is doing something shady I don't understand why it counts the loss to me.

Again I'll give him the benefit of the doubt, since no one else has reported this about him I don't want to be a sore loser and start accusing him of something he could be innocent of.

Well got him, I got his undefended capital by 2600 BC, now he is accusing me of exploiting because I won't tell him my game plan, I told him to report me if he thought I was cheating. So if anyone from 2K wants to talk about my stratergy im happy to discuss it as long as it remains private, seems silly to tell everyone what your tactics are in a ranked ladder. I was surprised I didn't get a sudden disconnect as the only person it has happened to is with Miz...oh well despite the accusation good game Miz, remember to keep that capital defended ;)

Following Miz isHere's antics against Judge AUS in ranked games (see other thread), I can't help but think that this now wasn't bad luck, but intentional

I don't want to get involved in the rivalry between the two, except to say that as things are now the player who disconnects loses the game. Hence, disconnecting on purpose in civ rev cannot lead to a win.

The other thing to say is that prior to the weekend, I didn't experience any, only resynching.

Maybe it happens when there are too many matches and the server is busy.

This is a total joke, DC number 3, this is the third time in within 1-2 turns of beating Miz and "Waiting for Miz" this time literally 1 turn from capturing his last city. This is getting beyond suss. Is there anything that can be done about this 2K? Only player it happens with and ive played 45 odd games with numerious people.

1st time is bad luck,
2nd time is a coincidence,
3rd time something is going on

All when I am winning, and funny he didn't DC the game he won yesterday which went 5 times longer... im sure he isn't doing something to change the code but he must be afking, or switching off his X-box, pulling his network, or any number of things which he has figured out dc's the game. Please help

Thankfully this time I had the forethought to grab a screen shot. As you can see I was on his capital and you can see the message. All he had defending it was a single horse unit, which I killed and was ready to march into his city.

Looks like it was chalked up as another loss to me, so now Miz has 40-45 points of mine that he never should have gained, and im down 40-45 points that I should have won from him, so 80-90 point difference.

Is anything going to be done about this 2K? What are the odds that a player always DC's 1-2 turns before a loss then gains a "win"? The only loss he suffered was when I captured his only city (was undefended) at 2600BC and he was caught by surprise. I think there is enough evidence to move on this, this is unfortunately a 2K problem. Miz has found out how to exploit the system, and this time I have an screen shot to back my statements. Even if Miz was a statistical anomaly and always happened to DC when he is about to lose and then gains a "win", it is still a 2K problem as this is a pretty bad "bug", again proof in the screen shot, I was still ingame and he was offline, how could it possibly be a loss to me?

I don't care about being at the top, I do care about being cheated. The only reason why it is only happening to me (at the moment) is because I am the only one who is able to beat him and getting matched to him.

Honestly is there any point in me playing MP anymore?

Sounds like you shouldn't play Miz anymore. In the US so I don't have the game, but I assume there are unranked rooms....if you want to play just for a good time, go to the unranked rooms.

And once the game hits the states, you should have a lot more people to play online with.

I completely understand what you are saying, however I should not be the one punished and having to avoid the ranked area just because someone else is doing something wrong, that just isnt right.

i will look into this.

i have had a couple disconnects at the end of a game (about to win, player leaves) and mine have always reported that i am a winner.

judge -- after a player leaves, do you see a "you won a domination victory" screen?

if a player leaves before the game is over, that is a loss for them, and a win for you. i will check with the team to make sure this is always true, and that there are no exploits. i will definitely look into it because i do want to make sure MP ranking is not exploited.

No it does not boot me out of the game and back to the menu, the screenshot I have provided is what stays on the screen and the only thing I can do is turn off the Xbox, I can't look around, move, bring up the city management, bring up the main menu, I can function with my dashboard/XBL fine, my net/connection is ok, my live is ok, I have my laptop next to me when I play so I know it isn't anything on my end.

As soon as this happened I checked Miz's online status and it stated he was offline. The screen shot you see is what has happened everytime, the only difference was Miz's online status was "away" the first 2 times and this time he was "offline".

I always get people leaving early and it always comes up with the victory screen, this only happens with Miz and right before he is about to lose, again our game yesterday (he won) went well into 1000AD+ and not a single problem.

Same thing happen to me today, I was playing against Lupulo. When he is losing, suddenly the message "waiting for Lupulo" pops up on my screen then i am unable to move, other than pressing RT to see the stats & the movement arrow animation still running.

I think this is an exploitable bug, similiar to Halo 3 standby "cheats"?

For my case just now, i just leave my 360 and surf net. About 5 minutes later, everything is back to normal and i can continue the game. What make me suspecting it's an exploitable bug is because Lupulo is still in the game!

Normally someone with nothing left but a weak city (his best military tech still medieval units) and i have bomber, battleship, modern infantry etc outside his base...he should have quit, but the "freezing" just came at the "right time". So next time if this happen to you guys, try not to quit first. Leave it on for 30mins. :D

I left my screen up for 2 hours and it was still the same for me, can't interact with the game etc, I eventually had to turn off my Xbox. That SS was taken around 20 mins after it happened.

Each time it has happened I have left it up for a minimum of an hour, just because first time it happened I thought it might reconnect or something, I wasn't sure what was going on, so thought it was better to be safe than sorry. No matter how long I wait it does not go back to normal or bring up the victory screen etc, nothing. I messaged MorteEterna as well as others during this event and got responses, I posted these messages and uploaded screen shot while it was still up on my TV.

What seems to be different with Miz is that you guys get back to the main menu etc after a fairly short amount of time, my screen just stays like that until I turn the xbox off, what also differs is the strange behaviour on Miz's part ie is "away" or "offline" right at the time of the incident.

Not once has he questioned or seemed surprised about the fact he was losing, got "dc'd" (using this term very loosely) and ended up with a win, in fact he brags about how he "wins" (again using the term very loosely) against me.

Up until now it was my word against his and in the world of the internet anyone could be lying unfortunately, so it was a bit hard to be taken seriously without looking like a bad loser, but now I have the screen shot to back my story (I wish I had thought about taking screen shots of the first 2 games just to strengthen it further) and hopefully some action will come of this.

I will leave it at that because I am trying not to make life hard for Elizabeth, I have said all that I have needed to say and I will leave it in her capable hands to look into this, I know she wants a clean ranking board more than anyone else here.

Unfortunately I won't be playing Civ on MP for a little till this gets sorted, I can't get connected to anyone else in the top 10 besides Miz, and I don't really want to have to beat 500 newcomers senseless (and put them off the game, also to save my XBL rep as looks like a couple of newbies thought aggresive and unsporting behaviour includes being quickly beaten in a ranked match...) just to reach the top because I can't play anyone around my skill level. I am confident enough in my skills that once this is all sorted out I'll be back near the top, even if I slip down quite a few places in the meantime. Those who message me about the game feel free to continue as I won't be far away.
