View Full Version : End game stats...
Gamecat

First up: score. The game does not display a final score ie. a number, only a rank 1st, 2nd or 3rd etc? It would be nice to see the actual score so you can see how close each rank was. Showing how the score was calculated would also be good too. (By the way, how is it calculated? I came second in a 2100AD finish, and it would have been nice to understand what would have been the best strategy in the last 5 turns to maximise my score. I came second. Cpu (America) who launched and had an Alpha Centauri date of 2102 came fourth! I bet those algorithms were pissed!! :)
Next: Game stats. This is a nice way of reminiscing about the game and is a good idea, but here each event is interleaved with the game credits. So it takes ages to scroll, and you dont want to (at least I dont) keep reading the credits time after time. Also some event panels repeat. So really it is a pointless option imo.
Lastly: Histogram. Pretty unclear what this is representing, is it territory, culture, score?
Would have been nice to see a little mini map animation of the growing civs ala old editions, but i guess development time can only stretch so far.
Well just a few niggles, on the whole the game is fantastic and my Civ obsession has been reborn. (maybe not a good thing he he)

Agree, this type of game DEMAND alot of stats. I mean each game we play for so long and at least give us some details on our end-game result instead of the stupid credits?

I also agree. :D
I've always enjoyed the end of game stats etc, it does seem very limited on this game. Personally I'd like a timeline type illustration indicating key events/battles etc.. maybe an overall view combined with a 'zoom' type function to certain dates to see more details etc..
As well as scores and improved credits as suggested. :)

I agree also, the histogram doesnt even state what its showing

The score is based on how far you are on each of the five victory conditions.
So if you've reached 8/10 milestones for Economic, and have 18 of the 20 (i.e. 9/10) leaders/flipped cities, but someone else launches the ship with full tech (so 10/10), but little to no culture and economic, (or domination), and the time runs out before the ship reaches Alpha Centuari, then your total is 8+9=17, and his is simply 10, so yours is higher, so your in a better position. However Someone could easily be 9/9 in culture, eco and tech, which'd get tehm 27 and be higher than both of you. I believe that's how the scores are calculated.

Agreed. If there is a score victory condition in the game then we should easily be able to see the score breakdown.

it would be nice to see a civ 3-esque end game stats showing major events in the world and all that sort of thing. but still, a great game:)

You can look at it by seeing who the current leader is in each of the victory conditions... just see what the total length of the line is, the longest line = winner ;)

I also agree, i felt gutted after scrolling through the end game menus not finding any stats what so ever, come on Firaxis! Make this game even better!

Why do you need such detailed stats? You were playing the game so surely you know what went on in it. I actually think the credits with the little bits of info inbetween was a neat idea.

It would be nice to have some overview of what went on, as over a 4 hour game, you do tend to forget bits and bobs, here and there

does anyone know what exactly affects how far you finish up the historical ranking chart, with Churchill etc? Is it the date you won or are there more factors?

Because we;re geeky and having invested 4 hours in a game want to dwell upon our victory/defeat and geek :)
by the way i agree with wanting to see what points i scored and ideally how i scored them

I suppose the common rts scores such as units killed/lost/built/overun would be a good idea. Also it would be nice to see a grand total of your research culture and gold.

OK, on the end game rank in history.
I just won what I thought was a pretty average Economic Victory on King, building the World Bank in 2038 (see, hardly spectacular :p), and I was ranked second, only behind Churchill...
Could anyone shed some light on what affects this rating?

lol that makes no sense what so ever. In some of my deity games I havent ended up that high and thats ening in the early 1900's.

Well obviously speed of win doesn't affect it.

This really is a huge flaw that I hope gets patched!!!
I held off my comments until I got the retail version because I figured the demo wouldn't contain all of the stat info. I was wrong!!! It is the same exact thing. The trophy stuff afterwards (leaders, great people, wonders) is ok to look at but they don't track your performance in games the way I would expect.
After playing 3-4 hour matches I really need to have a something documenting the historic battles and advances that took place.
The histogram is wack because it lacks detail.
The stat/credit screen is wack because the stats chosen seem arbitrary and aren't complete. And mixing them in with the credits is annoying
The lack of detail city perfomance analysis and comparisons sucks.
How come we don't get access to the tech orders that our opponents chose?
There really is a lot of stuff that needs to be done here. I really am let down.
Minus $10 for home console copies IMO!!!

i have the ds version and i got ranked number 1, all i did was when i was 1 capital away from a domination victory i set all my cities to gold and got my gold up to 20000 then took over the capital and my score at the end was like24000.

I find that this would be awesome, i really miss that one since that way you basically see your evolution to supremacy/Doom in a truly nice manner. :)

I think it would have also been cool to show you the mini map showing how your civ and the others spread from the beggnining to end like in Civ IV.
Btw, just beat king with all victories! Gonna start emperor tomorrow!!

I like the Histograph but I definitely think this game needs more.
