i have been a civilization FANATIC since i was in middle school, and have played every civ game since it began. thinking about online matching on my 360, and being able to play civ late and night on my DS... it gives me chills.

Ha i first started with civ3. I got like the all inclusive every expansion pack for like $10 or something. I know i have logged in the most of my gaming time on this game. Then i discovered map builder....oh yeah that was when i really started having fun. Then i got civ4 but didn't like it as much (partially because my computer lagged with it and i hate lagging.)

My very first post; and can I just say how thrilled I am to hear that Civilization Revolution is coming to the consoles? I've been a massive fan of turn-based games since the days of the amiga. So it goes without saying that the prospect of getting Civ for the Xbox 360, has me salivating at the very notion of it!

Somehow, spring 2008 suddenly seems to be a very long, long way away! :)

I joined the Civ series at Civ 3.
I played at least 4-5 hours when I started a game and after I went to bed, my fingers kept twitching. "L" i pressed, "L", but in my mind my dreams knights weren't fortifying...

I'm so glad that a Civ, more involved Strategy Game, is coming out for consoles. Don't get me wrong there are some others that are okay, but don't let you have that start up from the dirt type play that Civ does. I can see myself playing Civ for many, many months. :)

I was wondering if you have the option to zoom into cities and see them (like in Civ3) where you were able to see the city and ALL its buildings, or the rubble of the palace if it was transfered to a new city? :confused:

I've a question,I know a lot of black people think Egypt was a black empire etc,but Cleopatra was of greek descent,wasnt she white?

Or am I wrong?
ps! I dont care she is black in the game,but why make someone white black? confusing.

She wasn't actually greek
She came from a country captured by the greeks only recently before she was born. But yes she was actually white. But it seems most pharaohs where of greek descent. I don't know why everyone shows her as a black person. Probably because someone set an image for her as a black woman, so it would be kind of strange if they suddenly turned her back as a white one

Most paintings of Cleopatra 1600's+ have her as white. You should go tell those hundreds of artists to learn some history.

Basic examples are easy enough to find. Just google Cleopatra paintings if you need to see it for yourself.

And for several centuries before her rule the Egypt rulers were Hellenistic (Greek) That came with Alexander. Her main language was also Greek.

You my friend, need to get a history book.

lol... I never said she was black. I just said she wasn't white. There are a lot of shades in between. Greeks aren't exactly white, I believe I have read greeks to be described as "olive skinned".

Oh I'm sorry. I thought there were only two choices. Black or White (as in dark or light). So when you said she wasn't white I figured you were arguing that she was black given that it was the only other option. Of course skin color varies. I didn't know we were being so specific in color though.

Just replace the instances of the color 'white' with 'light shaded color' and replace all the instances of the word 'black' with 'dark shaded color'

Let me rephrase then so you don't take things too literally. Cleopatra's original skin color was probably more closer to the lighter side of the color spectrum then the darker side. However, she could have become very tanned.

Some people are delluded and go by looks today and compare it with nowdays.
Roman empires conquer of Gaul (france) made some of the recessive genes dissapear,while those in German stayed cause Roman empire never reached it.
What happend to all these redhaired and blondes in Gaul? I mean looking at France today they are hardly a majority,so dont compare now with 2000 years ago in looks plz.
They(the romans) never dared venture beyond the rhine river.

Anyway about greece,well you had Macedonia rulers,and mixure of people,Ptolemy wasnt Greek he was from MAcedonia btw.
And concerning the color of the skin...obviously someone living in Egypt with that heat get a brownish skin,even my dad and brother do very easily,since we have some Italian in us and yes my dad is very brown atm since he like to visit spain,Italy a couple of weeks every year.
However im pretty pale atm.

the screenshots I've seen make Cleopatra look more like a tanned greek than black. I just want to know why Cleopatra is Egypt's ruler when she was barely more than a puppet, and when there are so many better rulers in Egypt's history.

just wanted to say wow, i downloaded the demo for civilization for xbox360 2 nights ago have played it many times now, love the game cant wait for the release in stores. i already have it on order for pickup. wish the demo was longer though i get to the end way to fast. anyway thank you for such a great game and i look forward to playing online soon. p.s. wanna match when it comes out look me up xbox tag BhodiLi74

No, gameplay.co.uk always sends off games two days before the release date. We are supposed to get games from there on Fridays but Mr Postman Pat people don't know that :)
