I'm very excited to see Firaxis revisiting Colonization! I spent many hours playing back in the day. Now if we could only get them to remake Alpha Centauri . . .

Sadly EA owns the rights to Alpha Centauri so I gather the only way we'll see that remade is if/when EA buys Take Two which would include Firaxis.

Thanks for the info. I figured the lack of a SMAC remake was due to some rights issues but didn't know the specifics. This puts me in a position where I have a rooting interest in EA's success . . . wow, I feel dirty.

...but is it too late for 2K Games to revise its marketing strategy for this game?
The name, "Civilization IV: Colonization," is very confusing; marketing this game as an "expansion pack" when it's NOT an expansion pack is excessively confusing.
Why do you call it an "expansion pack" if it's NOT an expansion pack? What's the point? Trick people into buying Civ4?

Correct. "Civilization IV: Colonization" is a standalone game. That's why I raised a concern in a previous post: I don't see why the game should be marketed as an "expansion pack" when Civ 4: Colonization is not really an "expansion" so much as a new game that is based on the same graphics and game code as Civilization IV.
