Would you please consider adding new content such as underwater combat that takes place outside of Rapture? I'm referring to combat involving SCUBA-equipped individuals vs each other as well as against futuristic small submersible vehicles. I feel that the addition of such content would encourage more people to purchase Bioshock on the PS3.
What do you think about this idea.

They won't and thats not a very good idea. However, adding cutscenes while you are submerged...inbetween levels, would be a great idea.

They can't alter content on the PS3 so it interferes with the already established game.

I think the most they can do is add a few cinematic scenes and maybe a few plasmids.

mabey more audio diaries
or new section of the city
the idea of a special "perk" would be good enough reason for people like me to buy it again

to go with the under water, mabey a window breaks and you are need to get the suit of a big daddy or out of the area quickly nad get into a airlock like in the begining of the first

mabey a small demo or trailer for bioshock 2?

Thank you very much to all 3 of you for your replies. I have to rely on your responses to my idea because I cannot play this game until it comes to the PS3. I don't own an Xbox 360 & my PC does not meet the minimum hardware requirements. I've made my suggestion only because I have read that the background story of Bioshock involves an underwater city and Big Daddies that look like they're wearing some type of heavy duty diving suit.

If having futuristic/sci-fi underwater combat appear during the game itself is detrimental to the game - then I would settle for having it appear only during cutscenes in between levels as PrivateJoker and Adam and Eve have suggested.

I'd like to take 37inf.div.'s point about including a demo or trailer for Bioshock 2 a little further. Why not have futuristic/sci-fi underwater combat be part of the game-play in Bioshock 2? Then the trailer or demo for Bioshock 2 could have underwater combat in it.

Let's keep this conversation going!

You do realise that it is set in the past right?

I've recently learned that it takes place in the 1950's to early 1960s. Submarine technology existed in the USA as early as 1775 - albeit in a very primitive form. Please check out this link from the US Naval Academy's website that explains this fact:

Thanks for your interest and please let us know what you think about submarines in Bioshock after you read the article in the above link.

Alright, so, what do you suggest submarines will do?

They'll shoot horribly slow moving torpedos at an enemy, but wait, there's more, the submarines can sluggishy turn to avoid the torpedos, fun.

Intense, maybe you can even surface at the end of the level!

I believe that you are referring to large military subs which have a minimum length of 1 football field. I agree that this type of sub would move and fire torpedoes quite slowly. I would definitely not wish to see this type of sub in Bioshock. In fact, the type of subs that would make much more sense are actually much smaller with lengths ranging from 10-24 feet with a crew size of 1-7 persons. These types of subs are used for commercial, recreational and exploration purposes and for Bioshock they would be equipped with topedoes. They would be capable of maneuvering much faster than the typical large military sub.

I hate to be the one to break it to you, but the previous posters are being sardonic. You've not played Bioshock before right? The game doesn't take place out in the sea per se, it takes place underwater, like the lost city of Atlantis. There hasn't even ever been an explaination to how things get transported from the surface to the underwater city, the transport of goods is prolly mostly done by bathysphere. But the thing is, your idea of submarines would not work, the reason being is because Rapture to the surface world is absolutely SECRET. It's the way that Andrew Ryan wanted it to be and the whole purpose of it being out of reach is the whole backbone story of the game.

I don't think your idea would not work for a lot of reasons, especially when you play the game you'll realise why for yourself. What you're asking may be to you something of a minor detail, but to the gaming developers, they would have to rewrite the whole stroyline just for it to make sense. That's why a lot of posters in your thread have been somewhat rude to you and I apologise on their behalf. It's just... it just wouldn't work and I like many, would like Bioshock's story to remain as great a it is without to many complicated plot holes.

Bathyspheres are like submarines. Maybe a cinematic sequences with a Bathysphere that has some weapons and equipment that you can fight with.

totally a poo idea duke, i appreciate you've yet to see the game so believe me this is not good! the great thing about bioshock is that its very clostrophopic in the sense that you are contained in a world that is getting smaller, water is seepin in and is ready to engulf the entire place and thats the whole point u need to get the hell out of there so to give your character a wet suit and alloow him to escape at any point outside the final credits would devoid the sence of ergency created within. this is the greatest game already and new ideas really arnt needed oif you are new to the game there is so much level of depth to this this game that you'll find yourself wondering weather or not it would have been worth gettin a 360 just to play this on release day a year ago when this really was the greatest thing ever! :) a year on from then THis will still stand up against anything released since i just pray its 1080p!

Great name, B5StarFury. (In fact, we are trying to rewatch the first 71 episodes as a marathon this week. LOL)

I think you'll learn once you play that game that BioShock is a unique experience. It's all about atmosphere and story. The other poster nailed it when they mentioned claustrophobia. That was one of the main design elements of the game--giving you the sense that you are trapped. Allowing you to leave Rapture would detract from that.

There is plenty of combat in the city. I think you'll like it, even if you can't go fighting subs. :)
