Are these screens really from the PS3 version? [Archive]

Hey,

Just like to say, that I can't wait to see Bioshock appearing on the PS3. It's one of the two games that I envied other console owners for having :p
Anyway.

I, and a few others are having a bit of bother with these screens which are claimed to be the first shots of the PS3 version.
All the websites that have posted this news, have not provided any sources for the news, but all seem to say that 2k/Take 2 have released them.

So, could someone clear this up?
Are these screens the first screens from the PS3 version?

For anyone interested in the answer, these are the only two screens released at present that are from the PS3 version of Bioshock.

I saw IGN showing those screens so I'm assuming they are real. Since the game is running on the Unreal Engine (which Sony previously helped Epic make beter for the PS3 before UT3) it wouldn't surprise me if the game does end up looking very similar (if not nearly identical) to the X360/PS3 versions...

Also, if you look through some of the screen shots it shows new Big Daddys!

Ha, I don't think you understood the question :p
Of course the PS3 screens wouldn't be from other versions!

What I was asking was if the aforementioned screens were from the PS3 version. They were reported to be, but all the sites that reported it never gave any source to back up their articles.

I (and a few others) just wanted a confirmation that these screens were from the PS3 version, because there wasn't any source of an official statement from 2K.

You know how the people of the internet are, someone could have just used a couple of 360/PC shots that everyone forgot about, and passed them off as the first screens from the PS3 version, for publicity and attention.
So, I just wanted to know that they weren't faked, and were infact from the PS3 version :p

Well, I saw the statement from 2K to CVG, so, later the 10 screens were faked :p

So, seems my question is answered, the first two shots are from the PS3 version, and the others are just 360 shots.

i understood you the first time.

the two screens above, with rosie and the rapture metro, are screenshots taken from BioShock PS3 on a PS3. they are not faked. this is confirmation from 2K that those are, indeed, real screenshots.

we only released 2 yesterday. i will track down the 10 you are talking about (or you can link me) but those, right now, are the only ones that we, 2K, have released.

Ah, well maybe I read your reply the wrong way :p

This is the CVG article (http://www.computerandvideogames.com/article.php?id=189862), but they've taken the screens down because you've already got to them :p

Statement: Update: 2K Games has just been on the blower to CVG to confirm that the two shots below are the only two shots of the PS3 version currently released. All other shots that are claimed to be from the Sony console are actually 360 shots.

All but the last two are fake.

Like I posted in my last reply, CVG have withdrawn the 10 images, because they were all 360 shots (2K statement to CVG is quoted in my last post), apart from the last two in that gallery, (the first two in my original post).

found this on kotaku. supposedly from the PS3 version. That would mean some of the new content in the game is one of the big daddies that didn't make it in the 360/PC version.

I wonder how they'll fit that into canon.

All but the last two are from early versions of the game (pre-release) they aren't PS3 screens.

@lotkrotan, old screens from earlier build of the game before it was released.

Will 360 and PC users be getting an update as well to make all versions similar in terms of "enhanced graphics" that the PS3 is rumored to have?

If not, I will feel deeply betrayed and will take this into account next time I buy a 2K game.

Why, thats like buying a new Honda and having a cry when they bring out a newer model with new features, thats just life and the way business works.

That just seems silly to me that they would supposedly have enhanced only available for the PS3 when a PC can easily be more than twice as powerfull in terms of raw performance; not to mention DX10 support.

If you are implying that the PS3 version will look BETTER than the PC, I doubt it. Content wise however isn't based on platform power at all...

If the PS3 gets exclusive content then I'm sure there is a deal (money wise) to keep it exclusive, if there is no deal then I'd guess the PC will get it. The size however (few MB to GB) would decide if 360 is eligible though. (again assuming)

I just want if to be identical to the 360 version, I really want to play this game! Any extras would be icing on top.:) (October, COME SOON!)

They should make the PC, 360 and PS3 identical, which means if the PS3 gets new content and improved textures or shadows, or whatnot, we should get it too. It's only fair!

Then technically the PC shouldn't get higher resolution and textures than the 360 version.:p

Personally a 360 identical version would be more than enough for me. I'm surprised so many people are sore on the content issue, if there are extras I can't see them being HUGE. Bioshock 2 will be equal across all platforms, sure it'll be bigger better and AMAZING.

I doubt the SloPro will be in the ps3 version. He was cut from the PC and 360 versions because it didn't fit with the other inhabitants of Rapture. None the less it is a good screenie, and a great possible enemy.

It's not like they could'nt play it. A 360 is a good bit less expensive than a PS3 anyway.

No, the ones CVG (and lesser known sites) reported were from the 360/PC versions. They were later taken down for the mistake.

The ones in this thread (I posted), and the ones on this blog (http://blog.us.playstation.com/2008/06/03/meet-the-teams-bringing-bioshock-to-ps3-plus-new-screens/) keyblademaster posted below are real.

Company makes game. Game gets improvements and is ported to a new console with those improvements. Company has the ability to fix the originals through internet. Will they?

I can't really see a difference between the PS3 and 360 screens other than the buttons. They don't strike me as, "Wow, what an improvement!" It is more like, "Well it doesn't appear to have lost its quality..."

Still. Great game.
