What's going to change on the PS3 version (esp for people who've played it before)?

I'm excited to see BioShock coming out for the PS3 since I know some people didn't get a chance to play it because of comp specs/lack of PS3 but I was wondering exactly (or even vaguely :p ) what things are you going to have (or have planned) for fans who have beaten (or are beating) BioShock on the PC/360?

Obviously I figured you'd put in some fun little SixAxis stuff but are there any plans on getting anything done beyond the 360 + DLC stuff? Also, is BioShock PS3 going to give us a good idea of the next BioShock (visually) or will it be running off the old/slightly improved engine?

Can someone kindly ban this troll/fanboy? Unless the PS3/Sony has harmed your family I don't see why you would care that the game is ported to the PS3. And most likely Microsoft PAID for a timed exclusive (hence the stamp on the boxes). 2K wouldn't make a game exclusive to PC AND Xbox 360 (i.e. Microsoft only) unless they were paid in the first place. A timed exclusive would obviously be up by PS3 release date and since this is a franchise that makes money (and will have the next game on all consoles) it's a good move to make the original on the PS3.

Seriously, can't people enjoy the games and not fight/bicker over such a stupid thing as consoles? It's like 5 year olds on the playground arguing over which color is better - pointless and annoying for the rest of us.

I'm not looking to bicker but I find it odd that anyone would care that BioShock is going to MORE systems. And selling out - uh, it's business. Make money by time exclusivity with Microsoft (i.e. Splinter Cell or GTA back on the Xbox and PS2, respectively) and then sell to the platform where all the sequels are going. Makes great sense for 2K (a company that is trying to avoid a hostile takeover by EA), but what do I know...

Also, would you mind changing the title of my thread to the title I tried to edit it to? The poor grammar makes me die inside (just a little bit) :p

Last time I checked this is a business and the advantages of brining a title to a larger user base, well, kind of a no-brainer. Just because a former exclusive is now coming to the competitions console doesn't mean greed...I mean, we're not talking EA here.

That said, I loved the original and will most likely be picking this up for another set of play-throughs. I'm very excited to learn what changes are in store for the PS3 version.

sorry to disappoint you, but that's a very old piece of artwork, and not new. it is not something that was released with our PS3 announcement.

You are entitled to your opinion, but explain to me:

PS3 = Snooty Kids? How so?

2K = Greedy? Microsoft most likely paid for a timed exclusive, so they are the greedy ones. 2K is trying to increase their profits WHILE delivering the game to a new audience, this is no sin.

Bioshock PS3 = "cheapened"? is this implying a bad port? please clarify because at the moment Bioshock is looking just as good on PS3 and has minor improvements.

After reading the EGM article on the PS3 version, they leave you inclined to think that the PS3 version will have either multiplayer or possibly something to do with HOME. Does the devs have any more coments on this? It reads that Sony has say in this decision, so what could it be?

If we were talking about a few weeks or even a month or two delay, I'd agree with you. But a year+? Honestly. :cool:

If 2K had a crystal ball and announced last year that they'd release BioShock on PC/360 in August, and then the same game with a few extra minutes of video and/or an extra enemy or two 13 months later, can you honestly say you would have waited? Gamers are impatient. Look at how the 360 folks freaked out when some people got the patch and 2 new plasmids a week later than others based on their Live membership level.

A year is ancient history in game terms. Everyone wants to play a game when it is hot and fresh and new. I seriously doubt anyone on this forum could look me in the eye and say they would wait a year for a second version of a game, just to get a few tweaks.

If anything, I think the PS3 folks have every right to expect something added to make up for the huge delay. 2K is being smart by going the extra mile for them.

Folks who are grousing about the rumored PS3 enhancements have some serious tunnel vision. Because you are ignoring the time benefit--a full year of gameplay--that we PC/360 owners have enjoyed.

This has been the Xbox story from the beginning, it really shouldn't be a surprise. I can't think of a single decent xbox or 360 title that has not been ported to another system at some point, even if it takes a year or so (but after that year comes a bunch of added content). I haven't bought a 360 game in well over a year for that very reason, without fail a superior PC and/or PS3 version comes out with bonus features. I tend to rent a 360 game if I want to play it early (Mass Effect, Bioshock) then buy it when it comes to my system of choice in an enhanced form, which all 360 games do eventually. I am thrilled about the PS3 version and already preordered it.

Please tell me how does Bioshock release to the PS3 affect you or anybody else in any way? How do you justify your statement that 2K has sold out?

Well, you could hack using the auto hack tool. Later on, you can even craft them. Lot of times you can also find these things lying around, or through looting. Crafting components are also easily obtainable.

I try to use the hack tools as often as I can, so that I don't come to a situation where I find a hack tool only to find that I can't loot it because I have the max number of tools in my inventory.

^ Seems this was overlooked. I really really don't want to go out and get a PS3- not for fanboyish reasons. I've went back to PC gaming and my 360 is generally unused unless I'm playing a coop game. I would LOVE to play Bioshock again, but going out to buy a new console for it would be somewhat disappointing to me and my wallet. I would like to see the new content also be downloadable for the 360/PC owners. Call it a sort of a nod to those who bought it the first time.

thats one of the dumbest things i ever heard! on that merit why buy anything? ever? i bought a 1080p lcd last year and it was top of the range at 40" this year samsung have brought out a new one with better spec do they owe me a tv? should i have waited another year and got this one? should i not get this one because next year there will be a better one? what about next year shall i give that a miss aswell because 1080p is on the way out eventually anyway? i bought this game release day, i had preordered it months prior and am doing the same with the ps3 version i cant wait for it, i hope this list is tip of the iceburk stuff and that the new version is HUGE!

I would hope they make DLC for the PC and 360 versions if there is new content. I don't wanna buy PS3, but I probably will for Blu-Ray. PS3 just doesn't have more than two exclusives (MGS4 and KILLZONE 2) that interest me. 360 has everything I need plus several exclusives I enjoy. And no install. I like PS3, but mostly because it is a cheap blu-ray player. And most of the ports and multiplatform games have come out with less tech issues on 360. (Assassin's Creed, Army of Two, Rainbow Six Vegas, Condemned 2, etc.)

Doesn't really bother me that much, I'll be able to see the opening scene when it's uploaded on Youtube and more than likely the extra level will eventually be available as DLC and if it isn't released as DLC it's not really that big of a loss.

Well I got the Limited Edition for my 360 when it was first released - I adore this game, but no, I won't be buying it again on PS3.

I do however hope any new content released is also made available for us 360 owners, I would love to be able to buy it when it is finished on the Live Arcade, so I don't miss out on any of the Rapture Universe I love so much; I would feel really let down if it was unavailable to everyone who didn't own a PS3.

I will happily buy BioShock 2 even if the content is not released on 360, but it will sure feel like a knife in the back. I would hate to hear them bragging about their great new content and such and then say, "Well due to complications and compatability issues, we will not be able to bring this new content to the Xbox 360 version of BioShock." Like with GTA IV, they told people that their was an "exclusive" content pack being released for GTA IV this year, which of course was not true. LOL. I got GTA IV for my PS3, because it has better graphics, but...I don't think it deserved the ratings it did, it was no where near as good as Bioshock.

Its about the game i dont give a crap about Microsoft marketing, what rating the games were given or which is better! I bought my 360 because it had more games that i liked than the PS3.

Like with GTA IV, they told people that their was an "exclusive" content pack being released for GTA IV this year, which of course was not true. LOL. I got GTA IV for my PS3, because it has better graphics, but...I don't think it deserved the ratings it did, it was no where near as good as Bioshock.

The exclusive content is coming Spring '09 instead. It didn't lose exclusivity or get cancelled. And what do you mean by better graphics on GTA IV? A s far as I could see it appeared the same. There was pop-in on both, but a wee bit more on 360. But for me, vibrance and sharpness were a little more important. Plus achievements I suppose.

Although I know it isnt really true I would feel like I bought the weaker version if the ps3 version gets full new lvs and such.
Trophies and those kind of things are ps3 only so that is okay but things that could be on the other platforms like new lvs would feel like being left out.

Given I haven't been on this forum for months I'll just throw something out ignorantly-
How many people got thier replacement Big Daddy figurines yet? Should they go out and buy another? OH WAIT- 2K owes them nothing? So I'm guessing the people who bought the limited edition package even after having the original game should go out and buy the big daddy figurine off ebay or something. The customers paying to help 2K
are being done wrong shelling out thier money, usually twice, only to get something that's broken and no replacement.

I'll admit 2K doesn't owe the 360 and PC owners new content, I find OWE to be too strong of a word by the way, but it would be nice to know if they intend to do so or not regardless.

ouch! first of all my post was about the game itself, i was not aware that there had been any issues with the big daddy statue as mine is fine, no problems what so ever and having said that my friends who bought the 'DADDY EDITION' :) also have no complains about the statue so if you feel they owe u a replacement i suppose i agree as it was the only good thing going for the SE.

WHAT! better graphics? are u blind? dont be silly i got both and put them side by side and the xbox version walks all over the ps3 version, i have friends who only own the ps3 who come to mine to check these games out that are released on both systems and its absolutely unanamous the xbox graphic aren't slightly better they are totally better, i returned my ps3 copy after 3 days of checking every detail against the xbox and its just no contest. You obviously havent seen the xbox version, some of the reviews online said that it looked better on ps3 so we were all really suprised to find that this was definately not the case, i suggest you check out both versions before making such statements.

You are entitled to your opinion, but I think the differences were subtle, but 360 just looked nicer. More pop-in from what I could tell, but the was only thing. It was sharper and more vibrant. I thougt it looked better for my tastes. Don't get me wrong, so far PS3 has not proved anything to me and definitely hasn't proved that it is better overall. Beside, roughly 3 out of 4 multiplatform games have more problems in the PS3 versions.

You think people would spend months or years of their lives working on a video game if they weren't getting paid for it?

I've heard people explain it as the Blu-Ray disc is so big and that the actual blu-ray laser is slow (2X or so compared to something like 12X for the DVD laser in the Xbox - mainly due to manufactering costs since Blu-ray was and still is more expensive to make) is the cause of slower load times. From what I've gathered some devs put repeated assets in multiple spots on the disc since its got a ton of space while others just have them installed since they know they can count on a bare minimum of 15 or so GB...

That said, I'd love to see devs do it both ways. Leave assets on multiple areas or let us install to make it quicker. I know the HDD is easily upgradable but it's always nice to have a choice! I'd install if the actual space taken up on the HDD was less than 4~5GB (or if it could be run during opening movie etc)...

When 2k announced that bioshock was comming to the PS3 they said it would make the pc and xbox 360 owners want to play the game again on the PS3 because of the new content. I like the new content announced but is there going to be anything else,im still going to get it but thats not very much to make pc and xbox 360 owners buy it again. will there be more announcements on more content soon?

It really bothers me when they add exclusive content to certain consoles. I understand that in some situations, such as this one, there was a long delay between console releases and maybe it's an added bonus to people who had to wait or a way to get people to buy another copy of the game. But like many people I pre-ordered the special Edition of this game the instant it was available and picked it up the day it was released. It was us who purchased this game on the 360 and PC that made this game a success and worth porting and adding content to. If they want money from me I'll give 'em 5 or 10 dollars for it, but I feel somehow betrayed when I purchased this game right away and helped to make it a success, but when they add to the game I'm left behind. Although I would like to point out that saying they deserve extra content because they received the game later has no more merit than me saying that I deserve any extra content, which is already available on another platform, because I helped make it a success.


Even though people aren't going to be happy with me for it I'm going to join in a little on the platform war. I like the Wii. The reason is because I've never had any problems with Nintendo hardware or software. The 360 has had its share of problems as did the Xbox. The PS3 has had firmware issues and few other problems. The PS2 is the only console that has ever gone on me and a few of my friends have had problems with their sony hardware video game related and not. I haven't had a Nintendo problem, they might not have as powerful of a console or have as large of a collection of games, but I believe their control scheme properly implemented is great and more than just a gimmick, and they have reliable hardware. I would like to see some more third party companies see the Wii as more than a gimmick low end machine, but I don't think that will happen. In the end though I still prefer PC over all three.

That report is a fake.
