CRC Error

I can't get rid of this error, I am on my second copy of the game, a brand new dvd drive that jsut arrived today. I have also reinstalled my OS more than three times. This game works perfectly no errors on my other computers but not my gaming one. Can anyone help?

The Bioshock DVD is a dual-layer disc. Do you have any other disc that you are absoluely positive is dual-layer as well? If you do then you can just try to copy all the files off of it in Windows Explorer and that would let you know if the drive is the culprit (e.g. doesn't read dual-layer discs properly). Alternatively, you could take the drive out of one of your computers that it does install on and put it in your gaming computer for the install. This would indicate whether or not some kind of software/hardware incompatibility exists in your gaming machine (or again put the current drive down as the culprit). CRC error posts do come up semiregularly here and usually it boils down to a drive not handling dual-layer discs properly.

You could always dload the game off of steam if it is a DVD issue.

FtRapture: The cd-keys for Steam and Retail are not interchangable as far as I'm aware.

I tried the steam thing and nogo. Bioshock is the only dual layer game I have, so I tried Oblivion (also having crc error issues) and it sitll does not install.

Are you going to try to take one of the drives from a machine it does install on and put that into your gaming rig?

My other computers are laptops so its not really an option.
