I noticed in preview: panels will deform and dent in a myriad of pre-determined ways - and the end result should make car chases that bit more thrilling. Is that real? In Mafia 1, visual damage was variety. In GTA4 damage is variety, itsn't pre-determined way. Maybe I don't understand, what they mean...

It absolutely agree, damages of cars should not be simulated in advance at all,it is not admissible!!!

Maybe the interrior Damage is static and outside one is Dynamic ;) ?

It will be like in new Indy - if you throw someone on the car, always there will be different damage

I don't think it's relevant how they implement the damage, if it looks cool, and it does, if we can believe the journalists (they said it looks better than in burnout paradise, or do I remember wrong? )

No, you're right, I've spoted it too.

The static demage can be predefined for a lot of car parts so if you crash or something it'll cause also variety of demage, because the those predefined demages will be combinated with each other.

I would like the dynamic version there too, but I haven't seen the static yet.
If only there was some video that could show the demage to us.

maybe they are implementing the RAGE and the new Euphoria engines for PC games as well :)

i hope the damage isn't too sensitive, in GTA IV for instance, if you barley tap something, you find the car full of scratches and dents. Remember, back in the 40's and 50's, cars were much tougher then they are now. Back then cars were made almost entirley of metal, where now days cars are made of fiberglass.

I like to be a realistic game... So if you crush into a wall with 100 km/h, the car must be totaly destroyed, and the men who drive must die. Also when you crush into a wall with 30 km/h the car must be dameged , and the driver must be little injured.

The car damage in Mafia was not pre-determined, but it wasn't very realistic either.
Same thing whit the pre-determined car damage in NFS:PS = it was boring, no matter how you crashed the car (angle+speed), it always looked the same (relatively realistic if you watch the damage whit the cars stopped & without seeing the actual crash).

"a myriad of pre-determined ways" in my opinion , that's good: all we need is a good balance between pre-determined damage and not.

And don't expect cars from Mafia II to crash like the cars in Burnout Paradise or GTA IV.

Those old cars were made to be as tough as possible, in a crash they decelerate way faster than modern cars = more fatal accidents & less damage to the cars exterior.
If you see a F1 car or a NASCAR car crash you will note how everything except the central "cage" gets destroyed in the attempt to have a slower deceleration and smaller G's on the drivers body and internal organs.

That's just what I expect and what was described by varying journalists as a car damage system in Mafia II.

The car damage system is described by some of the journalists as even better than the one in award winning Burnout Paradise with blowing car's tanks and squeezing metal plates.
