Yes you guys are lucky. Us Americans will have to read all you guys posts about how awesome the game is for 6 weeks before we get ours. Try not to rub it in too hard. ;)

I also will be getting this in a month. However, the release is in the middle of my exams so i probably won't be too active. I'll definitely sneak a few games in though! Can't wait!

I may be in Europe during that time, so if I am I will try to find it. The PS3 isn't region locked.

Elizabeth or Jason - is there any reason not to do this? I guess I can't think of one.

Anyone know what stores would carry this? I'm not familiar with European gaming or electronic stores. I will likely be in the UK or Finland.

If you do get to the UK Phalanx, in addition to the two game stores that Lenny mentioned there are also a couple of supermaket chains that will have Civ Rev in stock. Morrisons, Tesco, and Asda are all very competitevely priced. In fact, Tesco Extra is probably the best price in the UK for Civ Rev.

http://www.tesco.com/entertainment/product.aspx?R=850824&bci=4|Games*4294235955|Playstation%203%20Game*92|C oming%20Soon

That's assuming it's not region coded, of course.

Phalanx

That's a very good price at Tesco (29.97). Especially considering the exchange rate is still about 2:1.

Thanks!

to my knowledge, it's just quite expensive to do so! the games are the same, the US version will not get any different content.

If you are in Finland then I think you can find this game almost in any store that sell games...there aren't many stores here that are dedicated to games but many stores that sell food / clothes and stuff will have games too so check them out.
But its going to be expensive if you normally pay 50$ for a game in the US then here you will have to pay from 50-80€ (75-120$)

Phalanx

PS3 games are normally $60 here in the US, and 29.97 GBP = $ 60 roughly. So price shouldn't be an issue if they have them at Tesco and I can find one near where I'll be.

Here you go Phalanx.

Just remember that it's a Tesco Extra store that you're looking for. So you will need to click on the appropriate radio button for same.

I hope it helps.

yeah but in north europe the games are very expensive in Iceland around 80-120dollars and the same amount was named in Finland and i think it is even expensiver in Denmark but cheapest in sweden and norway ( but lot expensiver then in USA )

How much are the games in Iceland, icejon?

The current exchange rate with the UK is 151.146 ISK to the GBP. So presumably, (and with all things being equal) a £40 game over here should cost around 6000 Krona in your neck of the woods.

icejon

the isk has been falling big time in price last year we there was 120ISK to GBP

and the eu was even smaller then our but there is lot of fight in the goverment about changing ??? money.
But games cost around 7000kr. here is a copy of a game store

ps3

Armoured Core 4 6.999
Army of Two 7.999
Assassins Creed 7.999

XBOX360

**Forza 2 Collectors 0
Ace Combat 6 7.999
Aeon Flux 999
Amped 3 3.499

all in isk

as you can see if you change the ISK into dollar or GBP then you can see how much they cost but the buisness life here is alot

hope this help

Lol......two or three examples would have been enough, mate! :)

That said, it's easy to see that you are paying a fair bit more for your games out there than we are in 'rip of Britain'. Even the budget 360 titles such as Kameo, and Enchanted Arms work out as being the equivalent of two or three pounds more than we're getting them for.

This place is pretty good though if you don't mind importing your games. It's free delivery to Iceland, but you'll still have to work out whether or not the price difference makes it worthwhile using.

I am 99% sure I'll have the game on release. Stupid Dutch stores won't let us pre-order the game:( . Ah well, I guess I'll just have to go at 4am and wait in front of the shop:D .

I'm from Northern Ireland so going by my track record of pre-ordering games online with GAME I should have CivRev on Thursday the 5th June, although GAME are still listing it as a 13th June release date...

I'm lucky in that I live very close to a Morrisons Superstore. So I'll be grabbing the 360 version at 8am on June 6th! :D

One question though: where are all the reviews for Civ Rev?

You would think that this close to the European release date, there'd be a few of them about.

I have ordered the game on play.com for £29.99. Hopefully I will get it on the release date or the day before. Play are usually good like that. Its coming out just after I finish my final year of uni too so I will be free to play as much as I want. Talking about uni, the funny thing is it was the ask Sid section on the Firaxis website that clarified my choice to pick Software Engineering over Computer Games Technology so thank you Sid!

Do you know Command & Conquer? People here will go mad i use C&C to make a comparison but it's the closest in popular games you can get I suppose.

You start out as a caveman and build a village, that's where your civilization start. You will research technologies and conquer other villages. The purpose of the game is to create the biggest and most awesome civilization of all times. The cool thing about civilization is that you can choose how to win. You don't have to defeat enemies with armies if you don't want to. You can claim victory by winning the spacerace, have the most culture, or being the one wit the most money.

For comparison purposes, I would think Age of Empires, but even thats blasphemous!

I disagree. I think C&C is the best strategy series ever made (then again I really... REALLY loved it). Civ isn't far off though. But I think you couldn't compare the two, since Civ is a TBS and C&C RTS.
