How well do you think Mafia II will sell? Mafia... a very successful franchise?

How well do you think Mafia II will sell, given the success of the previous game, the current situation of this genre on the market, the fact that PC has no longer exclusivity (and never will.... me thinking:mad: )?
Will Mafia become, in the next decade, a very successful franchise, just like GTA, and maybe even compete with GTAs in sellings?
To be honest, the chances to compete GTAs in sellings are the lowest. Mafia is a "franchise", so far, that doesn't follow the usual path: high rating and reviews from profile mags and gamers = high volume sales. Mafia: The City of Lost Heaven, overall, was extremely well received but the sales are slim compared with the reception it had: around 2 millions copies sold for all platforms 'til march 2008.

It largely depends on marketing of 2Kgames, and the information/teasers they release till the launch of the game. If they release 2 more In-game trailers, and around 15 more screenshots in next few months, I think they'll get ~1-2 million more customers.

But then, in a way, why to invest so much money and time in a game that will sell only 3-4 millions?!?!? GTA IV had 6 millions pre-orders!!!! Plus the PC version it's not even confirmed, and PC will sell another 5 millions, I'm sure.

I voted 2-5 millions.

Since it is both a Pc-ps3-Xbox 360 release I would say it is a pretty good guess.

And as I have stated in previous threads I think the GTA IV release will help Mafia 2 sales couse more people gets introduced into the genre, and they want more after the initial GTA IV hype has worn off.

i voted for "2-5millions" ...cause i dont think this game has a chance to be HUGE like GTA4 (GTA Series in general) was... but i do expect it to sell more cause of the hardcore fans of MAFIA... but i think MAFIA fans in general look for a certain thing in the MAFIA game as it only appeals to certain types of people where as GTA is a broader range of people.

either way... i still expect MAFIA 2 to sell more copies than MAFIA 1 did (especially since it's on all three platforms at same time (PC/XBox360/PS3)).... i think it's not a question of IF it will sell more than MAFIA but a question of 'how much more' ;)

and it's like someone said above... ALOT of how well it will sell is 'marketing' of the game cause if i remember correctly MAFIA (on PC) etc never had barely any marketing.... the ONLY reason i ever known about the game at all was cause of a friend and im damn glad he told me about it as it's still one of my all time favorite single player games (even to this day ;) ).

cause i think anyone who generally like shooter video games and is a big fan of mob movies (especially godfather/road to perdition as those are probably most like mafia)... i would say it's safe to assume they will like MAFIA series in general alot ;)

p.s. im quite a bit in GTA4 on XBox360 now and the game is turning out better than i expected as im starting to like the characters more and the shootouts are turning out better than i expected etc (im just getting all around more used to the game) ... but like i said before... MAFIA2 im SURE ill like more. especially if it's anything like MAFIA (on PC) ;)
