Multiplayer Mod?

Will there be a multiplayer mod for this game, like the ones on grand theft auto san andreas??.

Although this game would be quite good without, Im alot less likely to buy and probably wont if theres no multiplayer, then it owuld truely be amazin game. Would get borin pretty fast if they aint got multiplayer.

(BTW, There isnt multiplayer already in the game is there??)

At the moment nobody knows something for sure, but "by default" Mafia II won't have the multiplayer option. I know it's not a good thing, especially these days, but this game is mainly focusing on features that these days games want to diminish their importance more and more: singleplayer and linear story. I know what you mean and I want multiplayer too, just think about 2 or more rival families that fight (but not that violent CS style for God's sake!!!) for territories, or simple fights in intersections taking cover behind the cars, car chases, etc. Maybe in Mafia III we'll see the multiplayer option!;) Anyway, after all it's a matter of tastes, so dunno if to recommend you to buy the game if you want multiplayer so much, but I won't miss this game, without or with multiplayer, even if I need to go in Prague to buy it!!!

Never really saw this game as multiplayer to be honest, its not a shoot 'em up game or anything, so having rival families compete like mg198242 mentioned wouldn't work out as well as it sounds.

Mostly I agree with you and I almost don't care if it's going to have multiplayer or not, but just in case, what's the problem with having a multiplayer with 2 families, when you enter to play online for the 1st time you choose what family you want and stay there forever, loyal, and fight the other family for checkpoints, warehouses, or simply if you meet a rival gangster in an intersection, get out from the car and fight, but dunno, as I said I don't think at these fire fights the CS style, but something to fight for and gain after some time, and keep a certain distance in fightings and not to be very violent,.... and all these to be accompanied by the AI, I mean the multiplayer to be like the singleplayer mode, but to allow some dozens of gamers to play in the same moment instead of 1 player playing Vito, of course with a fixed number of players/server.

Because it sounds like an MMORPG, and it better not turn into one, cos I would lose it lol. Multiplayer is a good idea, don't get me wrong, but it won't be as popular I would say.

This ideea remindes me of a NES game I played when I was little, it was called The Ninja Brothers. It futured two main characters, Jack and Riu, and you could play a multiplayer, one controler with Jack and one with Riu. It was fun and Mafia 2 could implement this only not on the same screen but over the internet.

I dont see how it works either but they did it on san andreas so i assumed it could be done. Why would you want to pass, obviously it will be like 10 times better with multi

A CO-OP feature with some special tailored missions with a reasonable high playability would be very welcome from me in a setting like Mafia 2 that I will say.

I'm a Mafia fan from the 1st to the last, so whatever they make i'll play but, I see Mafia as being single player and that's it.

We all seem to agree that the main point is a strong SP story, as it was in Mafia but then if we get that what is wrong with having added features, it would just mean potential more sales.
And no one would force you to play MP unless you wanted to :p

Point taken, however I will be forced to play MP, and I don't want to lol, anyways it's not like it's going to happen, afterall, it is an SP game, that is all. And I don't know about anyone else, but that is perfectly fine with me :)

Yes I have no problem at all Mafia 2 being SP only.

It`s just that I can imagine alot of potential with a MP mode done correct in the game, and it would be a selling point as well.

Yeah it would be a sellling point. But to make a Mafia MP game would take a while I reckon, to make it worthwhile playing.

this would be a little hard but awsome if they pulled it off

have an open world city, you have a charecter, you can make or join your own mob, hire cpu charecters to do your fighting while your not around, have difrent severs with a limit of mobs in each one, put in a police force and then recrute people online and let the wars begin.

I think that's a great idea, but MP somehow just does not seem like it's going to happen.

I dont get how it would be hard... for game makers anyway, yeah you lot have sick ideas but I was thinkin a MOD made by fans like in san andreas cos we know they aint gonna make MP for Mafia 2, If was like da one on san andreas it would be sick, with servers of 200 people in dem. Get your freinds and jsut drive around killin other players =)

This game will get boring fast if only single palyer. Every single player game does.

I am somewhat disappointed that Mafia II will not have multiplayer. However, in retrospect, talented fans like the SAMP or Mafia-MP teams could give us a multiplayer mod that is ten times better than any official multiplayer component.

The idea of a RP multiplayer server for Mafia II is... mind-blowing. :D

The Multiplayer Programmer participates in development of a new game for PC and PS3 and Xbox360 platforms and is responsible for development of assigned parts of the code. S/he cooperates on development, maintenance and porting of multiplayer modules and entities.

It is too late to do a multiplayer to the game. It is impossible to include multiplayer to the game, which is almost done.
