Have no idea, Dbeat, but in general I would love to see Vito being able to do as many things as possible, and swimming is one of them. I really hope they implement this feature because we know now that there is a river that cuts Empire City in half, so very probably there will be many places from where you can jump into the water, with or without a car, so swimming is a must have IMO at least for playability after you finish the missions or for Free Ride (Extreme).

To tell you the truth I really don't want Vito to swim or to fly airplanes or helicopters. It's to GTA alike...maybe, just maybe Vito can swim, maybe he has to in a missions that requires this...but no flying please...

Remember Vito was just a poor immigrant who commited crimes and was sent to war. Where he had opportunity to learn how to pilot an airplane ? And choppers were mainly for military use in those days, if I remember correctly, the times of each millionaire owning own helicopter will come later.

I do want Vito to be able to swim but NOT flying planes or helicopters. Actually I don't believe at all we'll be seeing Vito flying planes or helicopters. It's only 40s-50s, too early for mass private planes and helicopters. In those times helicopters weren't even available to public. I reckon I've said I want Vito to interact with envinronment as much as possible, but no flying stuff at all, to interact with the environment like this: to be able to open all doors of the car and to be able to keep them opened if you want (which was confirmed), to enter in all important buidings and be able to use the lifts and get to the roof (if there's a roof where Vito can stand and not buildings with 45 degrees roofs), to be able to drive motor boats etc.

Yes that a good ideea, and if you wanna run with the car you wont be needing to open the door again, just jump in the car and close the door.

you have to accept that it was frustating when you where in a mission and if the car go to water .....cua cua cua cuaa you had to repeat the mission again or at least that part of the mission.

Maybe the swimming part will be processed in Mafia II.
If you played Hidden and dangerous II you could do that, so when 2K Czech has experiences with this, they could be able to implement it in game again and it's still better than do entire mission because of one mistake.
At least I wanted the water to be seen-through, to see some stuff swimming in it (some condemned sunk gangsters), to hide murderous weapon.

NO swiming...maybe devs can make this: when you crash the car into water Vito is shown trough an animation how he gets out of the water....simple as that...but no swiming and Diving :rolleyes:

Amen to that! I think it's stupid that you actually "fail-mission" when something like that happens :P even if they won't make him able to swim, then why can't he just get "teleported" to the nearest shore / beach or whatever.. would be a h*ll lot more fun to not have to restart missions all the time.. :)

Well I dont think a mobster in a sweet expensive suit would swim. But it would be a cool feature to have, I agree not needed. Mafia 2 is trying to be different from GTA but a motor boat or something would be cool. If there's no swimming I wouldnt cry about I mean sure it would be nice but it's not that important

no no read all the opinions and you'll find that more people wants that vito swim, its just logical even for assassins creed they added that feature because for most of the players was just frustrating...it was more comprensible though, you were a guy with a lot of knives and medieval things and all that stuff:rolleyes: , but with vito that shoudnt be a problem.

I haven't read the entire thread but I believe Vito should be able to swim as long as he isn't wearing a bullet proof vest. If he is wearing a vest, he should lose it before swimming.

The NYPD used helicopters for patrolling from the 40s onward. Since this game extends into the 50s, I think we should see the Empire Bay Police Department (EBPD?) slowly introduce helicopters.
