Now in no way am i trying to degrade this game at all. I have been playing CIV. games sence number 4 was released... and i don't think iv'e played a PC game so much in my life. But one of the big things i wanted to see in revolution was a more realistic enviroment. Iv'e been watching the videos and screeshots, and they seem a little more like cartoons than the 4th game. I want some of your thoughs on the graphics of this new game...

I prefer the cartoonishness of Civ Rev. The comical models make the game seem more light and colorful and accessible. If the artistic design went in the direction of more realistic looking models, I might feel like the game was trying to be too serious. Regardless I know this will be a very intelligent strategy game lying beneath those cartoons.

Kind of like Team Fortress by Valve, cartoonish but provides great fun.

Well i played CIV 4 cause it felt like u were actually controlling a real civ....not some cartoon figures. This worries me and might stear some people away. Next gen users are all about graphics these days.... idk well see.

Honestly, this will appeal to more people than it will deter.

I agree. I think the artwork lends itself brilliantly to the frenetic action going on at the front of the screen. That's a really clever touch, imo. Think about it....right there, at the very front of the screen, and so very 'in yer face', you have this crazy turmoil going on between your advisors, and the leaders of the world. While in the background, (but still clearly visible over the shoulders of the protaganists) you have the cities and towns that are the very 'meat' of Civilization.

I think this is going to connect the player(s) to the game in a very real sense. And personally, I'm hoping it's one of the features of Civ Rev that carries over to the PC series.

it's a much easier look for the GPU on the various systems to handle, to be very honest with you.

why do you think wow was cartoonish? more computers could run it without slowdown. same with tf2, which someone already pointed out.

Yup, in practice cartoonish graphics can look much better than "realistic" one, with much more intensive use of resources.

WoW is a great example, Sid Meier's Pirates! another - I don't mind it, unless the game attempts to be a very realistic portrayal of real life (see GTA 4) where cartoonish graphics would be inappropriate.

I don't really care about the cartoonishness of CivRev. All I really care about is the gameplay. You can have sucking graphics but great gameplay and still the game can kick ass (I'm not saying the graphics of CivRev suck btw)
