I wonder how many other advertisements there will be for plasmids in Bioshock, I just got the HD version of the Hunting the Big Daddy video, and I noticed that there was a poster on the wall at about 4:42, that was advertising Eve
It said:
Running on Empty?
Fill up with Eve!
Only the best for our discerning customers
I wonder what some of the other ads for plasmids (if plasmid-based ads are in) will say?
P.S. Before anyone says it I know that Eve isn't a plasmid, it is what active plasmids use as fuel in a sense

I would expect that Rapture, which is capitalistically driven, will feature as many visual advertisements as we see in our culture today, maybe more. The 50's did not have as much technology that could be used for advertising (no internet, and TV was in it's infancy) so printed marketing was most prevalent.
Can't wait to see the "Hung like an elephant" advert poster ;)

"Tonight, show her just how much you love her...

But what would you call the plasmid?
How about Baby Grand
['baby grand: heavily built man' —Jazz Age Slang (http://home.earthlink.net/~dlarkins/slang-pg.htm)]
(maybe that could be the slang term for the Hung like an Elephant plasmid— a Baby Grand).
Or how about the big six
Maybe the "Baby Vamp" could be a slang term for some kind of female type version of the same kind of thing.

Them's some fantastically funny slogans Hatesink :D . I like the proper use of jazz-slang esspecially. That's exactly the sort of thing Irrational should be doing.
Wish I had all the spare time you seem to enjoy though ;)

Cheers LEC :D —I'm glad you like them.
I'd love to actually see something like that in the game, but I'm not sure just how likely it would be for them to include that kind of thing (but how cool would it be).
...and yes, probably way too much time on my hands (trying not to get cabin fever ;) )

probably most of the advertising will be posters/signs... i could also think of some audio-ads coming out of the speakers in rapture. that would deliver some nice atmosphere...

Definitely some broadcast ads, jack :) Radio was the next biggest form of advertisement for the time period, and if they have radio's, I would love to hear some radio shows reminiscent of the time period.
Imagine hearing some HP Lovecraft tales, or some Superman or Captain America adventures radio broadcasts. I highly doubt Irrational could fit a bunch of 10-15 minute audio clips of radio shows into the games media content, but the PC community could do some MP3 merging and mod whatever 3-5 minute clips they do provide and expand them.
I did this with Vampire Bloodlines, basically adding a whole 30 minutes worth of moody music to the nightclubs of each hub. Anyone remember 'Friggin Chicken'?

Maybe playing on a radio behind a reception desk just outside of the bathysphere. Superman or Captain America would probably suit the mood perfectly. Or maybe The Untouchables. Maybe Orsen Welles' famous rendition of War of the Worlds could be worked into it somewhere (The player-character could listen in on the goings-on in the outside world).
I loved the T.V. shows in Max Payne, probably mainly because it was so surreal, but I made saves so that I could re-visit those places and view the shows again.

Anyone remember 'Friggin Chicken'?Is that an available download (could I get it from file planet or something similar?). I'm yet to play Bloodlines— I've been thinking about picking up a copy in the next couple of weeks.

Sorry didn't see this at first glance. Bloodlines has these nightclubs/bars, some of them quite goth which fit the game's theme. Within these clubs/bars, you receive some quests, and also there is a dancefloor where your character can dance, basically a series of about 10 or so steps repeated. During a dance, other ravers will come over and gradually form a circle around your character, making you the life of the party.
Unfortunately, Troika saw fit to include only one song per club. It was boring hearing the same song constantly repeated, so within the game folder I opened up the mp3 of each club and appended more songs to it using an mp3 merger app. It doesn't randomize the songs, but at least there was about 6-8 songs per club.

Period radio ads are also fun to do voice recording for :-)

"Don't let Fontaine's anarchist degenerates destroy what we have worked so hard to build!"
I'd love to see a stage winding through the massive printing presses of Rapture not to mention their own radio studios. Especially when the player realizes all that noise they were making has been broadcast throughout the city.
Much Kudos Hatesink that's some awesome stuff. The Jazz age resource is going to be an invaluable resource for some Adventure! in the coming weeks.

The new marketing for BioShock should be Plasmid Posters at GameStop, and Ryan Industries ad videos for television.

If you're gonna bring a thread back from the dead, at least post something that actually contributes to the topic. Also, don't use huge font like that. Just letting you know, ok.

When I was reading Ayn Rands “Atlas Shrugged” I stumbled upon something quite interesting: “I like Cigarettes, Miss Taggart. I like to think of a fire held in a man’s hand. Fire a dangerous force, tamed at his fingertips. […] When a man thinks, there is a spot of fire alive in his mind – and it is only proper that he should have the burning point of a cigarette as one expression” I don’t know what you think but it seems to me that 2K has read the book quite diligently if you think about the incinerate plasmid advertisemnt "fire at your fingertips" :)
