I hope so.

Mafia II also could include steam achievements, stats and STEAM Community support.

well me personally i dont like the way steam is setup... i dont mind steam for stuff like counter-strike and stuff of that sort but for single player games (i.e MAFIA 2) i always prefer to have a hard copy (like physical copy) instead of stuff limited on steam cause with steam if you dont have internet access (like gets pulled or lost etc) your pretty much screwed and cant play the game.

I don't know why are still people don't like STEAM.

- Autoupdates.
- Achievements.
- Stats.
- Your games everywhere you go.
- Nice prices.
- Nice catalog.
- Friends list
- Voice and chat IM in-game.
- Digital sales compatible with retail sales.

I have very good experience with the platform: Audiosurf and Team Fortress 2 are the two last good examples of what STEAM can do for PC games.

Read what Mark Rein (Epic Games) say about STEAM:

[Steam is a great place to sell PC games. I think it is becoming the place to sell PC games, so if you're not there, you've limited your marketplace. The numbers in a very short time have been amazing on Steam. We were shocked, we should have done it sooner. We were dumb. [laughs] In the future, we'll probably use more of their stuff. We'll probably use some of the Steamworks stuff. They're doing a great job. It's really well done.]

Well, I'm going to give you a short and simple answer.
First of all. There are plenty of people that do not like the interface of Steam, the way it's designed, it's got some kind of Windows 95-interface, which is pretty stupid. I agree, you can change the skins, but that doens't take away the effect around the whole Steam.
The other reason is just because, well... Who developed Steam? Valve. That's right, Valve. If another developer puts his game, a game they worked very hard for, on Steam, many people think Valve created it. Valve automatically gains something from each game they get to put on Steam and that really isn't supposed to happen. Everyone could design something like Steam, you just have to have the patience, money and opportunities for it. And I don't like the way Steam is going...

I've heard too many people saying Steam sucks, so something must be true!;) Anyway, doesn't matter for me, because I want to have the game on a DISC, so if to have it on a DISC means to download it ill_egaly, I'll do it!;) ;) ;)

Man, do you know about Steamworks??? Some tools that are COMPLETELLY FREE for any developer.

STEAM is more open platform than PSN LIVE! WiiWAre, Gametap or XFire are.

You can buy your game on a store. Have your physical DISC and use STEAM at same time.

STEAM have more things than a digital store.

95% of games that are in STEAM have a retail version too.

You cannot compare xFire with Steam to be honest. I don't know if you were there when they first released Steam. It was far from complete and it will always wear those marks.
And of course, I've heard about Steamworks! I just want to say that when you throw your own game on Steam, you give a part of it away. Some people will understand me, others won't.

Plus, it's another way that prevents piracy among PC games. From what I've seen, plenty of companies are going to stop PC exclusive releases, and I don't blame them. They lose money when people download the games via torrents instead buying them. When I buy games, I see it as supporting that company.

True that, but it's kind of a big issue to not make PC exclusive games, or just focus a lot on consoles, cos they would lose even more money, and hey its not like pirated games wont come out on PS3 or the 360, trust me, these guys can keep up with anything, so I'm not too sure if just saying PC Torrents are bad, is fair.
