I know I'm probably the last person in here to check out Google Earth, but I just downloaded it, and I have to say, I was really floored. I know for a lot of younger people this is no big deal whatsoever, but I was born in 1968 and for me the thought that you could zoom in within 15 feet of anyplace on earth from satellite is still like sci fi to me. I'm having a great time playing with it. Anyone else amazed by this stuff or is it just me?

^Lol. My parents were born on the same year you were and when I told them to download Google Earth, they were on it for HOURS. I STILL am amazed by it and I just heard on tv that you can or will able to soon to zoom in all the way to the streets and houses as if you were standing in the street. Pretty effin' cool I'd say. I love Google Earth and I always have fun playing with it.
Search these coordinates. :D

Cool definitely...but creepy? I'd say YES!! It gave me chills up and down my spine to see a picture of my apartment building just as casually as you'd look up a Youtube video. Big Brother is watching you...from spaaace!! LOL

LOL. Did you see the image of those coordinates? It's crazy not creepy. Appears as if they were looking directly into the lense. When I first saw my house I was like, OMG! This is GREAT! Lol.

They drive around in vans and take photos to add to it as well...
Google is taking over the world. If only there was a GoogleOcean...

I've only just downloaded it. It's pretty cool.
But I don't think those are actually satalite images at that resolution (I saw a documentary where they used a satallite to film a smiley made of big square sheets of cloth (the sheets were pretty big and the face didn't show up that clearly)).
I think this is about as close as they get at the moment:
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/e/e4/Crops_Kansas_AST_20010624.jpg
Those guys must be looking up at a plane after hearing the engines (at that resolution I'm pretty sure the photos are taken from aeroplanes)
Pretty cool though, nonetheless (although they've got the tube station on the wrong side of the road where I live :D )
If that blew your mind, check this out— photographic images, the web, and collective memory:

Are there any lists of interesting coordinates, e.g. Groom Lake ;p or Disneyland?
Edit: I let it install the Google toolbar and it's not spawning Google Earth when I click on the symbol, it just takes me back to the download page ???
I just ran this search: "Area 51" ...they've actually got some of the buildings named as 'ufo hangers' and there's one object labeled "UFO @ Area 51 under tarp" :p
Space Mountain looks rad ("Disneyland")
Skate Park: 52°17'36.81"N 1°54'18.04"W
Holy s***, If you click on the planet icon you can search the universe.
Eiffel Tower 48°51'29.86"N 2°17'39.95"E

Statue of Liberty, 40°41'20.93"N 74° 2'40.41"W
Florida Raceway? (I'm sure this track is in Lotus Challenge), 28°23'50.02"N 80°36'49.66"W

^Rofl. Yes, I've seen the alleged "UFO" floating around in Area 51. Supposed to be something else. Although, it DOES appear to be hovering, hence the shadow of it. But who knows. I honestly don't believe the Goverment would allow that anyway. You can get closer than that picture though, I know that for sure because I can see my front yard on Google Earth. (I downloaded it like a year and a half ago but hardly ever use it.) It's not as clear as that one with the guys and the camels, but it's pretty close. There's a few other coordinates of some people at the beach. I haven't seen Disneyland though; never really though of it, actually. I'll try right now. :D

If it's an infinite universe then statistically there has to be intelligent life out there, but if it's finite, then who knows.
I think it's been calculated that there could be over a thousand sentient spieces existant during the life of the universe but the chance of them actually contacting us or us them I understand is quite slim, although the latest estimate for cantact with extra terrestrials seems to be within 20 years.

Whoa! That's pretty cool. I'd like to know what that is too. I saw Disneyland. :D It's pretty cool. The Matterhorn mountain looks crazy. Look at Six Flags Magic mountain in California. :p Looks crazy too! I was trying to look at the Hollywood sign in the mountains, but don't know where it is exactly. Haven't been there yet.

I looked up Mount Rushmore and the Kremlin, but there's not really a clear picture of either.
I tried "six falgs ca" but it took me to six flags marine world panda express.

All of this imaging technology is amazing. It is only a matter of time until we use this technology to say, drive a car.
