I like Tommy. He's a good guy.
IMO he was a hero, just like Salvatore Giuliano.

When I was posting to the Mafia forums back when it was newly released more or less everybody really disliked Tommy. I was wondering whether the people here at the moment are pro or anti Tommy. I've always liked Tommy.

I can't decide. It wasn't his choice to become a gangster and he had doubts definietly, but after all he was that gangster. Don't have special affection for people who are loving husbands at home, but murderers outside. He wasn't bad to the bone, so I have some warmer feelings for him, but not completely warm.

Tommy has excellent proficiency with a wide variety of firearms right?
I guess he also may served during the First World War. Just like Vito in Second World War.

I think Tommy was a great character.
It was basically a good guy, even if he was a mobster.
He didn't really have a choice to become one.

I liked him, because he had some principles, like not to kill women, and that friendship is more important than the omerta.

Oh yeah, the principles...forgot that he had not killed that slut in the tub. Maybe I'll like him more?

Tommy's a great guy. A gangster with a heart. Wasn't just about the killing, money etc but about supporting his family and making a living.
I liked Tommy. He wasn't an egomaniac like other protagonists, and he wasn't simply the "hired goon" we see in other games. for the most part he was, but we know he also did things on his own terms to a degree. More than all of that he was human. and we don't see many video game characters that we can say are human. He felt like a real person and it was sad seeing him die in the way he did. I guess all it took was for him to be human one last time and slip up by answering to his old name.

Tommy was a great guy. I like the words of Sam in his last few breath before he died "You are dangerous Tom.". Haha yeah a great gangster. But Vito will be more great, more violent :D

Tomy Angelo has ever been a complex person for me and I like the evolvement of his character. Albeit he was a gangster, he wasn't a murderer that kill for fun. Have you ever seen him killing any unarmed innocent person (except the time when you were doing it). As he said: "Job like anyone else."
At first he didn't want to be one of Them but he had no choice. I also think that when he saw a vision of better and richer life, he couldn't resist. He was just a man. Then he got used to it.
With Paulie he became to be a big bug, but when he met Sara he reduced his behavior.
With his entire life he reminds me a real person with not perfect but still life.

ehem stupid topic :DActually, when Mafia was originally released, most of the hardcore fans didn't like Tommy. I was one of the few people on the forums at that time who did. He always remained a sympathetic character for me. I was just wondering whether people here, at this time, actually like Tommy.

I loved Tommy maybe because of his voice (Marek Vashut) and his thinking was good too (chtěli s náma vyjebat, tak jsme vyjebali my s němaú

I really liked Tommy. I thought the premise was cool also, considering it was serving a purpose for a computer game.
There was a kind of backlash against Tommy at the forums I visited at the time. No one seemed to like him because he 'broke the omerta' and told his story to the detective. It seemed people were also frustrated at not being able to override the cutscene in the bathroom at the hotel to shoot the girl. There was a general feeling that Tommy shouldn't have let Frank go either.
A lot of people kind of thought that Tommy was a traitor and a snitch and generally too soft. I personally think they kind of missed the point. It was a story for a game etc.
I like him quite a bit ... he was one of the main reasons i loved Mafia so much ...

i voted for YES (obviously) cause MAFIA in general is one of my all time favorite single player games. PERIOD! ;)
i cant wait for MAFIA 2 im sure it will be a masterpeice just like MAFIA was (on PC of course as i cant stand playing shooters on console as it's to hard to aim with analog stick vs a mouse)
but yes, Tommy was a good character you actually liked him and just the way everything played out it was sorta like a mob movie (which is one of my favorite genre's in movies in general) with the cut scenes etc etc... great voice acting to.

I'm going to have to say no, simply because he wasn't really a hard-ass. He was way too, Sarah this, I can't kill him etc etc kinda thing, but not a bad character. just a bit wussie.

He was a good guy. He should have killed the Salieri. Tommy was a clever guy, nice suit, nice weapons, deep sensitive characteristics... He was one of the best character i have ever seen.

yea it was a good guy and an unlucky he didnt wanted to be a mafioso but he hadnt a choice so in some way his attitude is justified because he didnt wanted to be a mafioso but in the other side i like more the agresive characters and also sarcastic they look cool

I liked Tommy very much, he has a good guy, half normal man-half brutal mafioso. He has a character for the soul, that you beggin to care about as you play, he was like the character from Max Payne, very 'powerfull'.
