Release date pushed back ??

I was just on the phone with Gamestop checking to see if they have any pre-order promos going for this game, when the guy told me "well... We have a release date listed as July 7th", and I was like no, it comes out June 3rd. Well, I was on the gamestop website anyway, and went to look, and they have indeed moved the shipping date to 7/7/08. Is there any truth to this ? What's the deal ?

The seventh is a Monday, not a Tuesday. So it isn't as likley, because most games do indeed (or so I am convinced) come out on Tuesdays.

I don't know why. They just do.
(It could be something like the weekend for shipping, and one work day for local employees to un-package, and put on shelves, etc.)

You're right... gamestop.com and ebgames.com (same company) both have Civ Rev listed for pre-order with a 7/7/2008 date. Amazon.com and bestbuy.com list the 6/3/2008 date though.

My theory is that as long as I keep regularly checking news sites and blogs, I'll always know more than the retailers when it comes to video game releases. This was especially true last year... so many delays for PS3 games and all.

On walmart.com it shows it as6/2, but when you click on the game for info, it is listed as 7/7.

Yep, because 7/7/08 just like 6/2/08 are ship dates. They always do that. To make it seem like they just got em' in the day before, or that morning. lol !! They usually get em' at least a week early. Anyway... Gamestop did have the ship date as 6/2/08 for a long time, it has only recently changed to 7/7/08 in the last few days. I am hoping for an official response from J2k or E2k, thanks.
