can u plz scan and post or mail me at: mak4bd@yahoo.com

Unfortunetly I actually have not scanner or digital camera, but I am sure, that somebody is working on it. But i'll post few things, which prepossess me:

- story is primary objective for developers and everything is derivated from it
- 2 hours of cut-scenes
- first Mafia was full of cool gangsters and everyone was simply good or bad, Mafia II will be more dramatic, realistic and darker
- important relation between Vito and Joe
- black humour in Godfellas style
- Empire City is inspired by New York and San Francisco, 4x4 km, 20 architectonic different districts with maximum accent to details
- city dominants - Empire State Building, Brooklyn bridge, Golden Gate - all of these buildings will be see on long distance = orientation points
- every night is light up different pack of windows on each building :))
- people on street will do more actions (take taxis etc.)
- big interiors (foundry, observatory etc.)
- no loading screen in Empire city, city will load continously during play (also in interiors - you can look through the window and see real happening on the street)
- cover system (something like Gears of War)
- something like respect meter
-you can listen to radio in cars (news, music..)
- journalists was shocked by sophisticated car damage system

All the important information from Gamereactor! Most of it at least...

- There will be about 80 different car models in Mafia 2
- The game has been in development for almost 5 years, or "almost as long as it took Bunige to release three Halo-games".
-The animations iin the game are incredible. There are 122 different animationsspots in every humans face.
- The plan is not to be in the shadow of GTA 4. They're going to revolutionize the genre. "Our game is serious".
- "This is a playable movie. A playable, interactive gangterflick, a linear game, extremely storyheavy and with a more serious and mature tone than any other game in the genre. Including the first Mafia.
- 2K Czech thinks that all more games are focusing on the scale of the gamingworld. The bigger the better. 2K Czech however, is going the opposite way, by making Mafia 2 70% of the first game's area.
- The Graphic Engine that is running Mafia 2 has taken nearly 5 years to develop. The details in the game are on the same level as Crysis.
- The Story is centered around Vitor Scarletta. Home from the war, where he got hurt badly, and with not that much money, he and his friend Jerry Barbaro goes on a crime spree. Before Vitor knows what happened, he is doing work for one of the city's Mob-families.
- Empire City is modeled after New York and San Fransisco.
- It is mentioned far to many times to say, that Mafia 2 is looking absolutely stunning

Yop, mine is from czech LEVEL... I think that city area in GameReactor is wrong, because in LEVEL that information was direct citation one of the developer, which works on city design.

not necessarily, cause 70% of all gaming area from first game could include countryside...so countryside in M2 is going to be smaller in spite of that Empire City will be 2x bigger than Lost Heaven.
According to that i'm really scared of these 20 districts, every with own look. Especially when developers are going to mix New York and San Francisco, it s like mix London and Cairo. So the only thing that make me really nervous about the game is the entire city look. I love Lost Heaven, cause it was balanced and mainly naturally.

btw: I'd like to show you 6 pictures of Joe, 6 differents skins for him :)

Mafia one was just perfect. I guess comparing Mafia 2 with Mafia one wont be a good idea. Lets hope for the best and pray that developers give us a better experience in MAFiA2 as soon as possible..caz i can't wait!

sosaited: major part of level text is "redactor crap" and sauce...the important information was pasted by Memphis on first page of this topic..
i could add this:
* there will be special places (together with Vito's house) where the game can be saved >>> very GTA imo
* there will be no "race" like in first Mafia
* player could wash his car
*look of Empire City will be changing during the campaign years
* no default skin for policemans..for example: fat policeman will be slower in run-chase
* 3-D grass
* when is Police Department after you, you could just hide in some courtyard in poor neighbourhood and wait for clean air
* other citiziens will call for police if they see you doing something illegal
* taxi is going to move you in final location of your mission by flashforward...crap possibility for lame players :P

(sorry for my mistakes..i'm tired (social) ) :)

and btw: i can help thinking, that major part of new features (coffe drinking, clothe changing, house buying, respect metrin and bla bla bla) is stolen from GTA-SA...maybe it's my personal phobia, but think about it :/

That "hide" that they talk about is probably just like you did in the first game in order to let the "wanted" bar fade away.
And as far as the taxi, I hope it doesn`t flashforwards automatically but that we also have the choice to actually sit and enjoy the ride.:D

i like this part. But y do they have to give the flashforward thing? y dont' they keep it how it was previously in MAFIA.

and changing clothes blah blah.....i dont' get those things...i want a strong story. Assasins creed is a good game. but there in the open world u have to some same things over n over again. which ain't fun. If any game is based on a solid story like MAFIA then ppl go buy the story and enjoy it. sometime too much open world spoils the whole game. I hope they dont' do something like that for MAFIA 2. Other than that ....all features i hear abt mafia 2 is really promising.

I see your point, but I think it's just a fast travel system. As others have said though i hope you can enjoy the ride and do it the slow way. In Mafia it was awesome fun hopping on a tram or train and just going around the city. something about it was so... fun! it was a really cool feature. I think it really helped add atmosphere to the game and bring the era to life.

I'm translating news that that are coming from Polish CDAction magazine, quoting from http://mafiatown.xt.pl/ website where I found them. There was interview with Daniel Vavra, man responsible for scenarios of both Mafia games and that's what they say comes from it :

-Vito isn't in any way related to Tommy Angelo, but there will be tie-ins to the 1st Mafia
-tha cars could be stolen with 2 methodes : by the skeleton-key or by the force - breaking out the window.
-the script for Mafia The City of Lost Heaven was 500 pages long, scenario for Mafia II is having as many as 700 pages. It is just the main plot, without the side missions !
-if nothing changes, there will be 18 missions in a couple of time periods (since last months of war to 1951, and onward)
-system of animation can simulate 30 muscles of the face
-names of some districts of the city are : Chinatown, Little Italy, Sand Island, Millville, Harbour.
-PC will be main platform for the game, on which the authors are working.
-After opening the hood of a car, we'll see a working engine ( I'm fainting, someone hold me)
-We'll be able to jump over the fences, and run onto the fireescape stairs.
-The work over the map and it's shape is already finished.
-Police will be chasing pickpocketers and drivers will cause car accidents
-Looking thru shop window, we'll see a pedestrian who walks into the shop, tries on the clothes, pays and walks out
-One of the missions will be happening in foundry, one in astro lab

ArchangelX

Thanks alot, 18 missions sounds about the same as the original I think (I believe it was about 20) so thats cool, I hope there are some really long ones though that have subparts.

And as for PC being the main platform for the game, if that is true I`ll be very happy indeed, and the part of the engine on the cars sounds really nifty :D

The game will begin with main character, Vito, returning home from World War II. Vito had used a military tour as a way of ducking jail time for a botched robbery. Vito reunites with his old friend, Joe Barbaro, and the two quickly take up a living in the criminal underworld. The game tells the story of their friendship, with a boasted 2 hours of game cut scenes. The original game, Mafia: The City of Lost Heaven, had a screenplay of 400 pages, opposed to the 700 pages of this upcoming game, expected to overshadow the original title. Daniel Vavra, the writer and director of the original and the sequel discusses the new angle of the game stating, "The old game was a tribute to gangster movies, a romantic vision.. Mafia 2 is grittier, real, a darker world, and the effects are based in reality". The Official Playstation Magazine says "A high body count is still promised in this tale set in a fictional city 'inspired by' New York of the 1940s and '50s, but those casualties will come the hard way- through small-scale operations rather than mass firefights.

The game is a drama. It tells how to become "made", how to become a wiseguy, and how to screw it all up. These screw-ups will be on you as the player, and the game includes several situations where you can decide the outcome, and your choice will lead to one of several different endings.

Vito's criminal ascension starts with Mikey, a mechanic who gets an earful from Joe for getting his greasy fingers all over Joe's clean jacket. Mikey also needs a certain type of car to chop for parts, and will pay $400 for one that the police are not tailing. Soon enough, Vito, Joe, and Henry (already a made guy) find themselves battling with, for, against, and around three crime factions: the Falconi, Vinci, and Clemente families.

1. Readable newspapers to learn about recent news between 1945 and the early '50s.
2. A completely open-ended game map of 2.5 square miles. No restrictions are included from the start of the game.
3. Cars will play a center role, based on models of the time, and changing with the era.
4. Laws, including traffic, must be obeyed, but the police interaction will be toned down compared to the original.
5. Although fictional, Empire City will feature familiar sights such as the Brooklyn Bridge and the Empire State Building.
6. The player can get "very high" in the city, adding a possible vertical element.
7. The player will be able to buy a home where they can store gear and use as a home base.
8. Restaurants will be accessible to buy food and drinks to increase health.
9. Things like sink facets, switches, bottles, and chairs will all be interactive, as well as radios that the player can turn on to hear a few licensed period tunes.
10. Cars can suffer panel damage, get dirty and explode. They can also run out of bullets. The player will own their own car that can even be customized with a personal license plate. Trunks can open, and weapons and bodies may be stashed there.
11. NPCs will smoke, read newspapers, and wait for buses, while hobos search through nearby garbage bins.
12. Interacting with objects in the environment involves two action buttons- a standard and a "violent" option- used in context-sensitive situations.
13. A map will be included as in the original, to simplify navigation.
14. The checkpoint system has been completely overhauled.
15. Gyms will be accessible to unlock new combos and fighting styles.

7. The player will be able to buy a home where they can store gear and use as a home base.

* I will welcome this feature.

8. Restaurants will be accessible to buy food and drinks to increase health.

* This one is good in the sence that unlike the original we will probably not be able to find the "medic cabinet" on the specific places that the mission takes place, which was one of the few unrealistic features in the original.
Still I would have prefered a hospital for example, though it could be that the health actually slightly decay automatically so we have to eat and drink to maintain it, if that is the case I welcome this feature too.

13. A map will be included as in the original, to simplify navigation.

* Awesome, I loved the map we got in the original and I was hoping that we would get one this time as well.

This is a ampliation of the information of james_beckerson , from Polish CDAction magazine, quoting from http://mafiatown.xt.pl/

Some spoilers , but very interesting, - thanks to neon 256 in mafia scene

- First mission will probably take place during the World War II, as the second one is Vito returning from it. 2K Czech doesn't say anything about the 1st mission though, as they want to maintain the element of surprise.

- The game will be divided into 3 parts- in the first one you'll try to get into Mafia as you and Joe think that it is a good job to get, in the second one you'll choose one of the three mafias, each one you'll choose will give you a different ending and storyline in the third part.

- You'll never be a Don, in fact you will stay as normal gangster in your chosen mafia, though you will take part in most important missions.

- Confirmed weapon is German MG42. In one mission you'll have to make a trap to kill a guy with it. His name is(spoilers ahead, underline to read) Henry Tommasino, and you must kill him because he decides to sell booze not only to you, but to other people.(end spoilers)

- One pedestrian was created in 3-4 weeks.

- You'll have around 50 cars from early 50's, you can open the trunk and the hood, a lot of things are animated (the engine for example).

- The city will be around 6,25 square miles.-note, maybe only is the city , the world of the game is 10 square miles

- The city is based on New York, it will have two important objects, one is similar to Brooklyn Bridge, and one resembling Empire State Building. Pavel Cizek, the guy who's behind projecting the city adds with smile, that maybe they'll name it as "Empire City Building".

- You can destroy windows in the shops, you can go up the fire escape too. You can jump over the fence. In the night 2K Czech created a system which lights lights (;p) in the buildings in random order.

- The shops will not be in a very good state, in fact they will be pretty destroyed and not in a good state, as resemblance to 50's.

- You can buy and change clothes to lose the cops.

- Cutscenes are said to be like in Bioshock.

- People on the street will sit on benches, buy hamburgers and buy clothes. You can see them trying the clothes on and then buying them.

- Martin Brandstatter, the programist, says that the PC market is their target. He says that PC version looks a lot better then in next-gen consoles, graphics are sharper and is more detailed.

- Though the PC market is 2K Czech's main target, the consoles won't be forgotten. They have auto-aiming system that you can adapt to with ease.

- They created a few animations for one weapon. For example- if you take a bottle, the first thing you do is hit someone from down to up, but after it brakes, you are more likely to stab with it.

- The game will be linear like the first Mafia, and if nothing changes it will include around 18 missions.

ehhh... noby translate (many words are cut away)
Why 50's???
It's natural, it's like continuing next era - new things when war started... And bigger difference against MAFIA 1

Will be there any genre clichés?
It was intention for measure... and most of things were inspirated by films or books, but not much. But it was necesarry... If we want to be real, we have to make some clichés.

What can you tell us about Vito?
He is pretty young, at start of game less than 20 years. His look isn't made after some known mafian. He is neutral, adapted to entourage. His friend Joe is bigger beast. Vito is neutral because of exposing of player

How the streetlife will look?
It's still working on it, but there will be more persons and cars. Persons are like in real, maybe pushing them wil be possible, they will live normal life, you know smoking, reading, dialoging :) etc. Throw out someone from car may not be possible. If you want, you can take a taxi and hop the ride or you can look out of a window on streetlife and scenery

How sharp-minded will be the policemen?
More permissive in small offences

How many weapons?
I'm not calculating it because I'm not maniac :) Normal arsenal, you can buy upgrades. There'll be more using of things, like breaking off chair and beat someone with it What about YOU HAVE TO USE THIS WEAPON IN THIS MISSION No, you can make it with anything. You can get weapons anytime you want, not like from Vincenzo. But no carrying of 200 weapons.

What about money?
You can steal it from people, rob bank, get from quests... You can be rich if you will be very active or contrariwise... And there's lots of things to buy and it worth it

Can we go to the casino?
Errrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrmm... I think not....... eeerr....... well, actually....... it depends........

How is working playworld?
There will be minimap with all you can know about events on street - cars, people, shops, quarters. When player is moving thru city and is entering quarter it (1/2 behind you | 1/1 you and vicinage | 1/2 in front of you) is loading. - SO NO LOADINGS

Where is this translation from ?

If it all correct I like that we are not stuck with the weapon they give us, I always looked angry at Vincenco for giving me a baseball bat when I wanted a Colt .45 :D
And robbing banks for money....sounds fun :p

"And guys, careful with that baseball bat, there is a signature from best player in the league"
"Wow, i'm his fan, it's true?"
"To be honest, not, but if you crash somebody to his head, he wont ask you."

"The game will be linear like the first Mafia, and if nothing changes it will include around 18 missions. "

How can we take this..?

Like 3 Mafia families to choose, so 6 x 3 = 18, so 6 missions per Family.

Or 18 Missions per family, and when you start over again, in another family you got another 18 missions, so:

18 x 3 = 54 missions?

ArchangelX
04-15-2008, 05:14 PM
Yeah I wondered about that too actually, if it would be seperate missions for each family then it adds alot of replayability in the sence that we have to ply through it 3 times in order to get through all of them.

Though who wouldn`t anyway :D

james_beckerson
04-15-2008, 05:16 PM
In such case I hope it won't be the same misions, just given us by people from the opposite family, and requireing to destroy cars of Family Y instead of X and so on

ArchangelX

Yeah that would sound like an "easy solution" in a way, but we`ll see what they come up with :)

Great info. ... :)

Thanx to all of u who shared ... :)

but after reading all the information i am under the impression that it will be
more like following GTA stuff but imo better story and cinematics would play
a major role ... :)That's my initial gripe with the information given so far. It sounds awesome in the Mafia world... but I just dread all the "GTA clone" comments that will be thrown at it. The only thing I haven't liked so far is multiple endings.

Soon enough, Vito, Joe, and Henry (already a made guy) find themselves battling with, for, against, and around three crime factions [...]
In one mission you'll have to make a trap to kill a guy [...] His name is Henry Tommasino [...]
Interesting...

I wonder if these two quotes refer to the same Henry? If so, Vito and Joe would be killing "a made guy." Unless one of them is "made" by then as well, this would be a death sentence and might be how they "screw it all up."

[The game] tells how to become "made", how to become a wiseguy, and how to screw it all up.

Are there any new previews or interviews? :) Or any other new official information? Fans are in the great hunger for nuggets of information. ))))

to2K Elizabeth:

Dear Elizabeth, we are hoping to get any details about new screenshots or even information about the release date of second trailer (if such exists).))))) Thanks a lot beforehand for your answer. Do you have a permission from developers to speak about that, already?)))

Some explanations , from a portugese magazine

the core team of mafia one, is present on mafia 2, daniel vrava the writer and director of mafia one is still present, he receveid formation for writing arguments.

mafia 2 is a more mature game, more realistic.

the story is: you are Vito, son of imigrant, poor, and he makes various little crimes, like steal things with is friend Joe, over the time he gets caught, and he has the option to go to 2nd world war, or jail, we chooses to go to war, the game begins in end of that conflict, when vito returns he and joe begins his carrier in the COSA NOSTRA, but the motivations of both are different: Joe wants is crazy about being an gangster, and likes the lifesytle of gangster, Vito is looking for a better life, more reserved character, wants to escape the bad and poor life. this is not a game about gangsters is about this two characters and his journey on being "made man", is about their envolvement on the "family", and the dark side of it.

the realism is something really important to 2k Czech, the graphics are simply amazing, the engine is in-house, the screens speak for themself but this are not enough you need to play the game to see this amazing everivoment.

the destrution of the cars and physics are simply amazing, they showed us a demostration in game, beginning with a simply touch on the car, to show us this system, this scrashed the car painting. then they stealed a new car, and start shooting the tires, if you shoot in the direction of a lock, after two three shots, the door opens, they fired a few shots and the car exploded, and flame all over the car, then the tires exploded.

the speed limits are there, but this time you wont get a ticked that hard, you need to make some bad things to get a ticket, the police can ticket and arrest the AI.

all cars have full tank of gasoline, but after a long drive you will need to go to a gasoline station, there will be some missions where they will use this, you can go to a wash station and clean your car, the carjacking wont be that easy = mafia one, the police will notice the breaked glace and will be warned, its more secure to unlock the car, then breaking the glace to enter the car.

you can change clothes and eat, changing clothes its nice to escape police, and drinking coffee makes you stronger.

the city is called empire city, based on NY, SAN FRANSICO, in years 50, is the double of mafia one, they created various inside buildings, like houses, restaurants, stores, etc, the JOE APARTAMENT, is really like the house of an single guy, clothes on floor, unclenead dishes, you can turn the water on and off, light on and off, if you look outside you see the city, and cars, theres no loading in game, only to enter the game, or only one loading.

every object breaks in 32 pieces, chairs, etc...

if a fat policeman goes after you, you can run away much more easier

the main theme of the game is the story and action, you can listen about some news about some things you were involved, in the radio.

the soul of the mafia one is there, the action scenes, everything.

the game is in third person, you have to find cover, the cover can get destroyed, and make holes of the bullets,

when you are in cover mode, the camera makes a zoom next to your shoulder, you can alternate between the right and left shoulder, for better viewing.

there are two principal indicatores in-game, one is the "warning of police" and the other "nivel of respect in the family", this can change if you shoot inocente people.

there are +/- 50 cars, not real ones, but based on the cars of that year, you can paint them, change license plate, you can open the backside of the car, doors, the frontside of
the car, you can activate a speed limit, you can catch a taxi or a bus.

they expect a 2009 release

Gooddamnit

I think I should stop reading about Mafia II... Really, I'm pretty crazy around here already.. prayin' n ****.. i dunno, I'm just really crazy
Alrigh', I must say, that this is the best game I've ever heard of, and I could give my head for that sentence, cuz thats true.

And,
we all are worried about Mafia turning into gta bull****, but, actually, there's nothin' we could do, and I trust completely 2K Czech.

EDIT: And... cuz they're hopin' for PC market, then could we make a deal, that noone from this forum will get this game illegally? When there's no PC market anymore, there's no PC games neither. Right now, we still have a chance, 2k Czech are makin' PC a main platform, we should help them and inspirate them with buyin' ;)

Amen,
luv all of ya
