Heya guys! Everybody's waiting for new info about Mafia 2? OK, there are some... but wait 4 days to check out big Previews in Magazines.

# Two main heroes with completely different characters: although you'll only be able to play as Vito, the other (named Joe) will play an important part in the story, not being limited to a supporting role.
# Not a direct sequel / no story connectivity; in fact, you won't have to know the first game.

... more?!

EGM's April addition had some screenshots.
(Luckily I keep mine... tee hee)

The article:
What does it take from the GTA forumula?
The mob. The difference being that while GTA3'S premis concerns present-day gangsters, Mafia II hopes to "epitomize the golden age of gangland America." Says producer Dan Baile. "For this, we ensure that every building, every vehicle, and every location exuded the tru essence of the 1950s (commi-busting) America." Oh, and like GTA3 and GTA4, this game is giving its own name (Empire City) to the Big Apple.

What does it add to the GTA forumula?
From what we can tell, not much. (sad faic) Mafia II offeres all the fun of the mob lifestyle (stealing and selling goods, participating in gangwars, fitting people with cement boots, etc.), but we can't help but get the feeling, "been there, done that". Plus, Mafia II is keeping this a solo experience; these days, we'd rather see a gangster game that lets us start a "family" with some online friends.

So... no multi player guys.
Points for consistency? (BioShock had no multiplayer)
I am surprised at how negative the article read.
But it looks nice. The screenshots included look a liiiitle better than GTA4. But it is debatable.

Hi everyone, I’ve been getting a lot of questions asking whether the PC version of Mafia II is falling behind its console siblings. I wanted to clarify that the PC version already looks amazing and that it is indeed on track for a simultaneous release alongside the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions. Hope this clears up any confusion.

love the draw distance, hope it's that long in the release

one thing that hurts the original is that the draw distance is like 10 feet :(

Hi!:)
Thanks for your info and answer(s). But I have a deeper problem that is boiling the comunity, and that is for which platform exactly is Mafia II being built?!?!?! I mean, the original Mafia was built for PC and the fans are waiting the same with Mafia II, especially because the console version of Mafia was much worse, overall, than the PC version!!! So, more clearly, which variant is true:

- 2K Czech are building the game for PC and consoles separately
- 2K Czech are building the game for consoles and then teleport it to PC
- 2K Czech are building the game for PC and then teleport it to consoles

"As the original Mafia was a big success, we are excited to leverage the power of next generation console technology to create an all-new experience, while embracing the elements that resonated with the previous game's fans," said Christoph Hartmann, President of 2K.

Sounds good, do you know if it a "seperate build" or a port from the consoles ?

Hm now I see others have asked the same, as in my own thread on Console vs PC, seems to be a sensitive issue among gamers this.
And from reading other forums I can verify that it is very much so.

That's because there is enough backstabbing to us PC Gamers. PC Games always come out later AND they mostly suck.. I was so happy to see Mafia 2 being announced and thats why i was so pissed at the message that the console version might come first.

i know that the console/pc question will be one on your minds until you get your hands on the game, but i assure you that we're giving the PC version the love and respect it deserves, and fully remember the amazing game that Mafia was on the pc.

but to believe it for yourselves, we'll probably have to wait until launch day. ;-)

It'll be great if 2K releases a demo, but for now, it'll be a good time for some more official details (and trailer) for dying fans (like me) hehe.

i don't know any of those details yet, but given what i know from the past, everyone always waits for the real game to make final decisions!

You better read more carefully ... there was already mentioned (just eight posts higher) that the PC version is NOT going to be delayed.

Edit: Ops, sorry for taking your job Elizabeth, I cant help myself :-D

Just one question tho... The PC is the main platform right? So we don't get some crappy ass port which only works good with a controller. I suck with a controller lol. I always get killed...
