Today we have read news online from Tiscali that the lead platform for the game are the PS3 and the Xbox 360 versions.
In addition mentioning that the PC version is likely to be released later then the above mentioned console versions.

However this statement is a bit unclear as I am sure alot of PC gamers (me included) wonder if the PC version is developed from ground up as a PC game or if it will be ported from the console version ?

If it is will it likely effect the controls etc or any other things on the PC version ?

PC version will come lately because it's obviously not favourite platform of Take-Two.

On the other hand the pc version of Mafia was a much bigger hit then the xbox version.
and i think most gamers want it on the pc.

They're going to obviously put a lot more work and time into making a far superior game for the PC than those awful consoles .
It would make more sense anyway, PCs are far more versatile for gaming and if they are going to release later why not put more things into it?

Thatīs true.

Mafia I was a favourite amongst many PC-players back in the beginning of 2000. It never gained that kind of popularity on other platforms (and, to be honest, the PC-version was way beyond in terms of quality).

I was just about to ask the same thing. Is 2K out of there ****ing minds? Console's main platform? I thought you wanted to take the maximum out of the game?!

is still my favorite PC game, the only game that has always been on my PC.

did try the Xbox version and tbh it was pretty bad, the controls were lousy esp driving which was so good on PC, just hope they do a good job this time, presume it will be ok as they're being developed together rather than later.

will seriously consider the 350 version this time.

Please tell us that you're building the pc version from the ground up, and not from the xbox 360

each pc game built from the xbox 360 is a piece of crap

- easy => lost planet, GoW (which is supposed to be hard..)
- bad gameplay for keyboard mouse => lost planet
- boring as hell => GoW

and so on.

Going console based is the only option, consoles now have a much larger market than high end pc gaming rigs. Go into any game store and look at the shrinking size of the PC section in comparison to the console section. PC games are on their way out with one exception MMORPGS like WOW but even then it's only a matter of time. Sad for the die hard PC gamers with their $4000 rigs but they should just be happy that the game is getting a PC release at all.

i posted this in another thread but i'll repost here to allay some fears:

Hi everyone, I’ve been getting a lot of questions asking whether the PC version of Mafia II is falling behind its console siblings. I wanted to clarify that the PC version already looks amazing and that it is indeed on track for a simultaneous release alongside the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions. Hope this clears up any confusion.

I certainly hope that the PC version will be built from scratch. I have no doubt that the game is in good hands...

Mafia was and still is one of the best games I have ever played. Infact I still have it installed. Apart from the stunning graphics (state of the art at that time) the in-game cinematics and the soundtrack were superb.

I hope that Mafia 2 will retain this quality and possibly beyond!

^ I second that. I sincerely wish and hope that the PC version will be as awesome (if not better) Mafia I was. Specially the graphics/sound it used in its time. If I am not mistaken, it was one of the first games to have surround sound (EAX). At least it was the first game I played with surround, and the experience was simply mind blowing.

hi thanks for ur words. But after seeing this:
AT TISCALI NEWS (http://games.tiscali.cz/news/news.asp?id=26917)

i am bit scared too. I want mafia 2 for pc. Shooting with consoles is crappy. I guess take2 atleast can make it as goodlooking or better than bioshock.

Also a particular release date would be highly appreciated. thanks

BioShock was made for consoles then ported to PC?!?!? If YES it makes sense now why when shooting guns it felt strange to me and very inaccurate!!! Anyway, even if Mafia II is made primarily for consoles and ported to PC and will be (very) good, who assures me (us) that if made for PC first wouldn't have been (much) better?!?!?!

No...
A separate team (2K Australia) worked on the PC versions.
