Multiplayer in Mafia II?

Alright. I've been following mafia-mp.com for a long while, sad enough, they made many people sad, since they promised a christmas-release, but nothing came.

Which again opens up to the question how easy the game will be to mod, the original has quite a number of user-made mods.

Even if it was unsupported (Like Gearbox's Halo PC: CE was) it would be better than nothing.

i personally think that mafia II should have a multiplayer feature, i mean, we all know the game is going to cost $50+ when it comes out, (well worth it too) but once u beat it, it will just sit, because its not all that much fun playing by yourself or playing the same thing over, i just think that multiplayer would be a nice addition to the mafia experiance. :]

I don`t really mind that we won`t have MP in the game but of course I wouldn`t object it.

Many times I thought about how cool it would have been to have it on the original.

Only looking at the screens from Mafia 2 I can imagine how nice it would have been. Like a "Bank heist" mode where you must take time to conduct the robbery, and then escape the cops.
And then lets say there would be like 5 banks in the city and the robbers could chose which one to hit, meaning the players playing the cops would have to spread and conduct stakeouts on all\some of them :D

Alot of possibilites in modes like that.

The point would be that the ones playing as robbers would themselves agree on which bank to hit (among 5 ) and then escape to one out of 3-4 hideouts to complete the missions.
The skins of the robbers should be random, created among the pool of the NPC in the city so that the ones playing the cops actually would have a hard time to discover them couse if the robbers would behave and also drive legally it would be very hard to single them out from the rest of the NPC and the cars roaming the city :D

Oh.....now I`m getting carried away :(

Anyway since we don`t get it this time I would hope it would be the next natural developement if the series continues.

Just a warning, I'm on a sidekick so I can't rly refer back to whom said what. But u won't believe it but mafia-mp, was started by me and a guy under the alias "T" which sadly its till not finished, for the guy who mentioned beating the game 35 times, I've had my handful of times beating mafia, but after beating it about 10 times it wasn't about the story it was just to keep me busy for a few hours.. Hopefully if mafia 2 is easy to mod and we aren't offered a mp ill be able to try and code up something for the many that desire it but maybe if we get it with the game it wud be more promising, and as always. The mafia community is the best community on the web.

Gotta run tho my boss is flipping that I have my phone out rigt now xD lol

A multiplayer would be interesting, though somehow, at this stage, I can just imagine more "GTA clone" comments--which is ridiculous anyway. Every game is a clone of something else. It's just that Mafia does it better. ;)

Back to multiplayer though, and I know people will hate this: RACE MODE! The race wasn't that bad at all. I see people complaining about it all the time, and while it didn't feel as "Mafia" as say... shooting up a rival gangs hang out, it fit right into the story and the gameplay was pretty fun (except flipping over and dying on the last lap).

Anyway, in a multiplayer experience, driving around the city, 4 drivers, 4 gunmen ...mayhem! (or even more players) then of course the usual death match or bank job type scenarios.

The game is perfect but not complete without multiplayer mod. With multiplayer mod they make succes. Pity they won't make it :(. There are guys who won't buy Mafia because it's only solo play. 2K should make multiplayer in my eyes to make Mafia complete! Plus they will earn more moneys too. It's up to them.

Personally I don't care about the multiplayer... :) Mafia is all about singleplayer mode imo.

I like to play with some friends of mine and smash their cars and kill them all :D.

GTA IV have a bonus for that, pity Mafia II won't get multiplayer. It's very populair to have multiplayer mod these times or in the future.

If you see how populair SA-MP is.. All happy it was released. After some time Mafia get boring and that's why multiplayer makes it complete. Than players keep playing Mafia but online.

me personally i would rather NOT have multiplayer in the game as it would most likely detract from the quality of the single player game AND i just aint sure if a game like mafia would work well in a multiplayer environment.

cause MAFIA is a standout game from most shooter type games cause it just has a great feel to it and it sorta feels like a movie the way it played out and i like it's 'old days' feel to it which you just dont get from these GTA type games (i like those though but mafia is better if you ask me)

You are right, perhaps if they make a Mafia MMO, (which would be somewhat insane) it would be cool, but Mafia 2, is just you and it, and your ass that goes numb from sitting too long lol
