Some of the time I usually listen to 80's stuff like The Clash, The The and The Art of Noise, but I mostly listen to individuals (like Fatboy Slim) and classical composers (like Tchaikovsky and Dvorak).

lately I have been listening to nothing but Arjen Lucassen's projects: Ayreon, Star One, Stream of Passion, and Ambeon. If I had to narrow down my all time favs, I'd say Ayreon, Katatonia, Anathema, Freak Kitchen, and even though they're going downhill, I can't deny Opeth being one of my biggest influences.

I'm a progressive metal kinda guy and most mainstream stuff just turns me off; once you trade intimacy for fame, the music tends to become uninspired (such is the case of Opeth and new Katatonia), so those already in the "underground" mainstream lost their potency ages ago. I'll stick with obscure concepts, epic riffage, awe-inspiring vocal harmonies, and heavy synth. I'm all about the prog.

They aren't snobs of their music (and they could be), and they aren't trying to sell their merch on you every second. They're there to have a good time, see some old friends, and play music they love. I wish every band could be like that :(

For me, it's mostly pre-90s rock, like 60's-70's David Bowie, Queen, Rush, and Bon Jovi. Everything else is spread throughout various genres like metal, opera (depending on who's performing), and classical music.

Recently though, I've been enjoying lots of Southern Rock, psychedelic rock, a ton of Metal, and The Strokes.
