View Full Version : PS3 version screen shots
So far all the next gen screen shots have been for the Xbox 360. I hope that at some point we'll start seeing PS3 screen shots. I'm worried that the game isn't progressing as well on my platform of choice.
I'd hate to have to purchase the 360 version of this game due to Microsoft's DRM policies for downloadable content.

I'll inquire into this for you, but for all intents and purposes, graphically the two are identical. I know each control scheme is tweaked for the console you are using, but for the 360 and PS3, the visuals are the same. Only the DS version is different graphically!

Those are actually xbox360 screenshots as you can see when looking at the screenshots with dialogues. Then you can see the A button found on a xbox controller. I would believe there will be a X button for the PS3.

I do apologise for the mistake. Other than googling 'Civ Rev PS3 screenshots', I didn't really give them as much attention as I should have done.

Hehe np :) But I feel calm now that we have been insured that the difference will be negliable. I mean there is always a difference between any two versions of the same game on the two mentioned consoles since they use different techniques and I guess it would just be a waste of time trying to make them look exactly the same. Might also be so that the XBOX team is a little bit in advance which means those screenshots look better. I don't know but hopefully we'll see some real PS3 footage soon :)
Yup, all of the screen shots I've seen, even those listed by GameSpot or IGN as "PS3" have actually been Xbox 360. This is what makes me a little nervous, I've yet to see any real proof that the game is actually running on PS3 hardware ;)
They've already canceled one version (Wii), I'd hate to see that same fate for the PS3 version. I prefer to have fair use of my downloadable content and not be subjected to the draconian DRM of the 360 hardware.

I think our PS3 versions are safe, Snap. Elizabeth posted the PS3 boxart on teh www.civilizationrevolution.com page today (Mar 25, 2008).

The PS3 version is doing well. I just talked to my Producer and (i think he even said this somewhere else on the forum) the 360 and PS3 look identical. one looks better than the other depending on the TV we hook it up to, not because of the build.
The controls are different, of course (different controllers!), but otherwise they are the same!

Since the PS3 has more room for expansion than the 360, will there be more available features and content for the different consoles?

Usually when a developer releases screenshots on only one platform the unsaid implication is that platform has the best graphics so that is probably why there is some doubt. That has almost always been the case from what I remember. If they really are the same, you guys have nothing to lose by posting some ps3 screenshots so please consider it.

I think some PS3 screenshots would be great ! Especially some of Cleopatra, (rendering of clothes optional ;) ).

Actually, it has to do with the ease of taking screenshots.
I have an app on my computer I can use to grab a frame buffer from my 360 dev kit at any time, no matter what's running (video, game, interface).
It's more complicated to grab screens on PS3.

Not sure if these are up on the official website nor when they first appeared, but I've discovered some screen shots of the PS3 version of the game. You can clearly see the iconic blue X button and red circle button prompts, and R1, R2, L1 button prompts that certainly are not on the XBOX controller.

... and see if Bigfoot has a playable, PS3 version of the CivRev demo. Betcha he does. Sasquatch has a lot of stuff.
