X-COM: UFO Defense (http://www.mobygames.com/game/dos/x-com-ufo-defense) & X-COM: Terror from the Deep (http://www.mobygames.com/game/x-com-terror-from-the-deep) are hailed by many as the best games in the PC history (#1 in IGNs "Top 25 PC Games of All Time" list (http://pc.ign.com/articles/772/772285p1.html)) and now many of the phones on the market are more powerful than the PC computers back in 1994.

Being a turnbased game that doesn't require fast reflexes (so clunky phone controls won't interfere with the game experience), I can't really think of a better way to spend a bus trip or whatever, and would love to see them being remade for J2ME (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Java_2_Platform%2C_Micro_Edition) or possibly even Nokias "next-gen" N-Gage (http://www.n-gage.com/).

Opinions? Anyone who agree? Disagree?

I still think the controls on mobile phones would be too clunky, especially for the geoscape part of the game. However the battlescape part would be perfect for gaming on the go. The devs did a game for the GBA called Rebelstar which was pretty much that, and wisely so as it translated very well (incidentally its own problem was that it wasn't structured very well to warrant much replay),

As per this post (http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?p=6302685#post6302685), I doubt it's going to happen. We know for sure that Hasbro still had the source code, because the Collector's Edition was published by Hasbro. It is very likely that Atari didn't get anything but the rights to the IP, but that requires further investigation.

That's a shame the source is lost. I figured that they at least had it for TFTD since it wasn't long ago it was re-released for Steam.

Guess I have to hope for some sort of clone then instead, like that Rebelstar. Never heard of that game before, but it looks like fun judging from the video on the official website. Too bad I got no GBA.
