I'm getting this game, no matter what... but this one question decides if it's on 360 or PC.

I play both on the same monitor so screen size vs TV is no consideration just how nice it will play on either.

My PC is:
Core 2 Duo 6300 @ 3.10 Ghz
2 Gig Ram
ATI Radeon X1900GT
Raid 0 HDD set up
And I hope to be able to run it at me screens native resolution of 1440x900 (On PC)

Which isn't too bad, but Vista and ATI drivers tend to represent compatability issues... so are any know at this time?

Cheers.

Are you using Vista? Cross your fingers. If they have their driver issues squared away by release time, I think you'll be fine.

This is a very rotten post.

You already know that ATI and Vista are currently at odds with each other, this is all you need to know.

Wait until ATI puts their as$ to the flame and puts out some real drivers before asking this question again. There is no need to hump a decaying horse.

I'm soooo sorry your Majesty </bows>
And knowing Vista driver support is not perfect is a LONG way from what "I need to know".

If they have tested it on Vista with Radeon X19xx and it works fine or poorly .. then THAT is a all i need to know..

I have no doubt that you want/need this answered, but you missed my point all together.

It is immaterial to a fullness and an absolute degree whether or not the game is running very well on ATI cards in Vista. Irrational, very much like you and everyone else in the world, have grotesquely poor Vista drivers for their test-cards.

Whatever the answer they might give, it is an answer that will fall obsolete in just a moment or two. Vista drivers are being viciously reworked in a hectic and fumbling pace by both ATI and nVidia.

Like I said, you need to wait for some solid drivers before your question can be answered properly. And in all honesty, you are probably better off not knowing as things currently stand. But that is jus my best guess.

Oh, and I rather enjoyed the “bow”; if you could be so kind and try to further that sort of behavior amongst the others, that would be lovely.

Why do i need to wait for better drivers before my question about how the game will run can be answered?... that thinking is imbesilic.

The same could be said of any question: Why bother asking because future events may change the answer.... so why dont we all just shut up and close the forum.

What I want to know is with such a short time to release: how does it run on vista with ATI cards... as much as you may like the sound of your own keystrokes there are two things you are adding to this thread: F' & A'.

Basicly you dont have an answer so just stop posting (simple really, isnt it), only the developers and testers knows how it runs as of right now... and that is what the question revolves around.

SO i'll leave the question open to people who actualy know some fact on the matter.

Alright then, if it that important that you find out how an unfinished game (which is not all that close to being out yet) will run on faulty drivers in an OS that your card is not currently optimized for, then that is certainly what you should spend all your worry on.

But you should know; it is during these last few months of development that all the serious Compatibility Testing/Tweaking is done. Irrational has not dedicated the last few years of production making sure BioShock will run on every graphics card. There was no BioShock during the last few years. But now that the game and all its content are just about done, it is during this time they begin working it over so that it will run on all the compatible cards/systems.

No one in their right mind wants to know how well a game is running before it is even half-way optimized.

You have a few more months before questions like this will give you anything but more worry.

Lets see if I understand this correctly. Vista is new and have buggy ATI/NVIDIA drivers. Bioshock is far from being finished with a ton of bugs left in it. And you want to know there are any known issues?

I bet there are a ton of known issues. Which is why the game isn't released now, but in august.

@ DeadMan'sHand— if specific conflicts or problems have been identified, the information hasn't yet been released to the community.

If there are problems, the point at which they become 'known issues' (as might be included in a late release notes 'read me') is probably quite a way off (I imagine a lot of the process of game development toward the end of the cycle is identifying and dealing with bugs and conflicts).

My advice for anybody looking to upgrade specifically for BioShock, and for BioShock only (unless money isn't an issue for you), is just to wait for the game's release and the release of the recommended specifications before purchasing or upgrading hardware (if all you're interested in is BioShock and BioShock only (or maybe BioShock plus a few more 360 titles) and if you aren't due for a PC upgrade, it might be more cost effective just to buy a 360 (you can always stick it on an online auction site once you're finished with it), (although the 360 as far as I know doesn't have mouse support). Having said that, if you have the technical know-how the money you would spend on the 360 might pay for quite a nice PC upgrade.

And even though it pains me to say it, if you still want specific information re. BioShock and hardware compatibility you're probably better off posting in the BioShock anticipation thread at www.ttlg.com (sorry 2k'beth :/ )
