I've just built a new beast of a gaming machine, and I'm thinking of playing some Bioshock on it to see what it can really do, but I'm wary of the crap SecuROM leaves on your computer even after you've uninstalled the game. I am aware of the activation revoke tool; this is not what I'm talking about. I'm looking for something to clear out the hidden registry entries and other stuff. Is anything like that available? Will it ever be?

No? Will I be forced to download the Bioshock: Respect for our Customers edition?

Thanks for the link, some interesting info there. Still seems like a lot of hoops to jump through to get rid of something we shouldn't have to deal with in the first place though.

From the SecuROM website (http://www.securom.com):
36. How do I remove SecuROM™ from my machine?
To remove all SecuROM™ related files (except the DRM information) please follow the instructions below. Before you start the deinstallation, close all programs which are running in the background, especially be sure that no instance of the Windows Explorer is running.
* Open the Windows command box by pressing and selecting the option. Now type 'cmd' (without 's) and press on the keyboard.
* Please type enter the path to the protected executable, e.g. "C:\Program Files\My Game\game.exe"
* Add the following parameter and hit : /uninstall
* A dialog box will appear. To start the SecuROM™ deinstallation, press the button.
Note: These instructions will work only for applications protected with SecuROM™ version 7.24 or higher.
This is laughable for obvious reasons. That said...
You can email SecuROM and they will provide you with a removal tool, though I have no idea how effective it is at deleting all hidden registry keys and whatever rootkit-like files that are used. I have the tool but haven't used it, and can send it to you but don't want to post it publicly in the forum.

Note how they have completely ignored this problem even when their DEMO infected people with this crap? This is insane that we shoudl need to go through so much work to get rid of something a DEMO did to our machine.

No need to bump a thread that is over 5 months old.
