I'm a sucker for Nintendo games...especially on the Mario platform.
http://www.deeko.com/nintendo_wii/reviewDetail.asp?id=921

According to this first review on the internet of the game, it is a "perfect" game. Gosh this is exciting...lets see if my predicition is correct...Super Mario Galaxy is the game of the year..and Bioshock is the runner up!!

Who else is foaming at the mouth for Mario Galaxy!? :)

I played at Gamestop yesterday, and my anticipation has fallen some. It's too kiddy, and frustrating at times, and that's just the first level...

Mario games are always kid-like in presentation...but for me thats part of the appeal (nostalgia). Oddly this is the Mario game I used to imagine when I was nine years old...after Super Nintendo I imagined that Nintendo would make the "Super Duper Nintendo" and it would feature "Super Mario Universe", where mario explores outerspace and travels to different Galaxies. Looking back Nintendo should have hired me when I was nine, I really could have given them the jump on the industry that it took them this long to obtain!

Anyways, the planetoid hopping looks extremely fun...I can't wait! I'm actually gonna call up my local Gamestop and see if they have it in...time for some Super Mario Galaxy!

The game has always had cartoony characters, yes. But this game really seems to reach towards the young crowd, where as the older ones had a general appeal. Maybe that's just me getting older.

I will most likely still pick up the game, and play it with the girlfriend, she'll enjoy it I'm sure.

The way I see it...if you already like Mario the kid-like aspects won't turn you off. And the kid-like aspects will appeal to a new generation of kids who will be buying Mario sequels in 15-30 years from now!!

IGN gave the game a 9.7 (http://wii.ign.com/articles/833/833298p1.html) (the same score that Bioshock received) !

They said that this game is comparable to the likes of "Super Mario Bros. 3 or Super Mario World". This game sounds great:D ! Too bad I don't have a Wii at the moment...

I'll get it eventually, and I certainly want to. However, I might go with CoD 4 for right now.

Yea but you can get a $25 gift certificate if you buy Mario from Toys R Us...which means you can then go back and buy COD4 for $35. ;)

Here is the cost breakdown:

for $60 you get COD4

For $85 you get COD4 and Mario Galaxy.

So if you really want to look at it a different way you could be getting Mario Galaxy for $25 and COD4 for $60.

I played a few levels of it at Gamestop...it is EXTREMELY fun! Its one of those weird games thats so fun that you can't help but to smile constantly, and say stuff like "wow". The plot is very silly, but who plays Mario games for their storyline (as humourous as they may be!).

Personally i'm just sick of companies milking Franchises for all they're worth, and Nintendo is probably the most guilty of it.

Lets stop wasting all that potential creativity and try to make something truly new and impressive instead.

Who am I kidding ... I'm sure Ninty has got a good 50 Mario, 155 Zelda and 31 Metroid games lined up already.

Sad days for Gaming ...

Are you kidding me lol!!? Super Mario Galaxy is easily one of the most creative games I have ever played. The only "recycled" part is Mario himself. If you want to blame anything, blame people like me...I would buy any Nintendo system solely for Mario, Zelda and Metroid games.

I just picked up my copy and I'm also gonna be playing that bad boy on a 50" 1080p LCD (too bad the Wii only displays up to 480p LOL.)

Alright so I am at nearly 50% completetion of Mario Galaxy...and what can I say its the most fun game I have played in a very long time. Sure the premise and alot of the characters have a silly charm and the game doesn't have a very major plot...but its so extremely fun...I am actually having more fun with this than any game I have played in the past year. If any of you remember, I am the one who was really obsessed with Bioshock and the plot of the game (one of its best features) so I am going to go out on a limb here and state that Mario is my favorite game released this year. It will probably win GOTY...some of the levels are exploring a Salvador Dali or an Escher painting...remarkable.

Everyone should try this game on a sweet system...go buy it, and go buy a Wii for it as well.

QFT, I absolutely LOVE this game and honestly I have more fun playing this than Bioshock (which was still a great game but died on the vine because of lack of new content/editor.) SMG is one of the best purchases I've made in quite a while :D

Its a god-like platformer. Best ever made..easily. Its inspiring to know that developers have only hit the creative tip of the iceberg with video games. This game portends great things to come...especially from nintendo! ;)

Its the highest rated game of all time...why are you so doubtful?

Amazing and very original level design, extremely good controls, artful use of motion sensing, beatiful graphics and music...a staggering and imaginative universe to explore...incredibly fun gameplay mechanics...charming characters (especially if you like mario). And its simply just a huge game. Interestingly enough there are far more levels in it than there was even in Mario 64!! The only disapointment is that there is one universe that's levels are similar to earlier levels...but its still very good. ;)

Also the difficulty threshold would appeal to anyone playing it. The really really hard levels make the most difficult parts of Half Life 2 seem like a game for pre-schoolers.

Got this today. I must say, I really, really like the art design. And the gameplay actually had me turning my head to keep in view. Nintendos outdone themselves on this one!
