Hello.
I have bought bioshock some days ago and have been experiencing probles ever since. Here is the message I sent to the 2k tech support, but never got a reply:
Hello.
I have bought bioshock a few days ago. Everything runs smoothly up to the point of the Medical Pavilion load screen, where my computer idles for some minutes, and then crashes, with the GPF: "Bioshock.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience."
As you can see from the attached DxDiag.txt my computer is a dell XPS laptop, with the original video drivers provided from Dell Inc.
My question is twofold:
a. Is this a known issue, and if so what is the workaround ? Will this be dealt in an upcoming patch ?
b. Is there a debug mode in bioshock and is there any way I can see the errors (for example an errorlog text file) ?
Thank you for your time.
I will re-iterate my specifications here:
Dell XPS M1710
2 GB of RAM
Geforce Go 7900 GTX
Windows XP/sp2
Directx 9.0c (august update)
I went through many driver versions (the ones from nvidia's site, the ones supplied from dell, and newer versions from laptopvideo2go.com) but none fixed the problem.
Based on the price (499 Swedish crowns, that amounts at about 76 $), and the reviews I expected a fascinating experience. What I got instead was lack of support, and a technically flawed game.
At this stage, I would really appreciate it if someone from 2k took the time to answer my questions.
