I would like to thank 2K games for turning this Gamer off from ALL it's products I may even throw away the ones I have from it too. I bought Shivering Isles for Oblivion and can't use it thanks for stealing my $$$ 2K I appreciate it. so for my loyalty over the many years I say take the games and you know what unless you can win me back as a customer and give me some advice, otherwise All my gamer friends here at home and online (100 at the Min) have agreed to stop getting 2K products if this question isn't answered.

+1 here.

Never buying any 2k games again. DRM infested pieces of bugged code.

I've been buying games for longer than 2k have even existed. Actually I've been buying games for longer than many of you have been alive ;).

Hi, I'm the 2K producer on Shivering Isles. Can you explain this?

Shivering Isles doesn't use the same kind of DRM as Bioshock. All it does is check to see that the setup file is running off the original dvd, and that it wasn't copied to the hard drive. Once the setup has been run, the game uses the original (non-securom) validation system from Oblivion.

Are you running any cd-emulation software? Some of that may cause securom to think you're running it off a virtual drive (even when you're not). I have personally run ShIsles with Nero installed with no problems, but I can't attest to anything else.

I guess the real point is that I want this rootkit the 2ucK out of my computer and you guys need to eat some poo and say "we deserve this, to eat this poo" over and over and post the video up on youtube.

So there.

I'm sorry, do you even know what that means?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rootkit

A rootkit is a general description of a set of programs which work to subvert control of an operating system from its legitimate operators. Usually, a rootkit will obscure its installation and attempt to prevent its removal through a subversion of standard system security.

SecuROM, and especially the SecuROM wrapper we used with ShIsles, does nothing of the sort. It's just a wrapper on the setup file that makes sure you're running it off the original DVD. Nothing's installed in the background whatsoever at any point prior or during the security check.

I sincerely doubt you're experiencing any problems with this title. If you are, please post specifics and I'll be happy to try and help you through the problem.

On the other hand, if all you're doing is posting meaningless anti-DRM gibberish on every title you can think of, I'd suggest doing it on a forum that's less likely to be read by people with genuine issues with the game.

And if you're one of those people with genuine issues, please disregard this troll's comments.

Are you running drive emulation software?

If you aren't, it's possible there's some kind of manufacturing glitch preventing the securom from properly identifying the original disc. Is it possible for you to exchange it at the store you purchased it from?

I don't have Shivering Isles, but the first message that you posted seems to idiciate a problem with SecuROM reading the disc. There's a little bit of guesswork in the following steps, please post if something doesn;t come up as expected.

1. Put the Shivering Isles CD/DVD in the effected drive
2. Open My Computer
3. Open the Disc contects, right click the disc icon and select open
4. *guess* right click the setup.exe and select 'Launch Analysis' from the popup menu
5. You will be prompted with instructions on how to create an analysis file, follow them.
6. Email the file, c:\analysislog.sr0, to support@securom.com

SecuROM should be able to figure out what is going on from that file.

Do this mean this mean that you can't install the game at all?? Did you use the explore or open feature on the DVD, and find the setup.exe on the disc so that you're able to install the game, Shivering Isles, from there.

Did you download the game from Direct2Drive, Steam?, or the obliviondownloads.page. If you have a a Vista or win 64 computer, anything purchased from oblivionsdownloads.com won't work on your computer. But the disc version of Shivering Isles or the version bought at Direct2Drive will work.

Some people on Bethesda's forums have had to install Shivering Isles in safe mode, with their firewall and antivirus programs turned OFF. (remember to turn them ON again once SI is installed).

Please remember that you will need the original Oblivion game disc in the dvd-drive when you want to play Shivering Isles. (the reason being that SI overwrites the original Oblivion's masterfile).

Programs such as Nero or Roxio have been known to cause troubles when installing Oblivion and Shivering Isles...

2K is "merely" a co-publisher of Oblivion. Bethesda Softworks is the developer behind the game series, and a publisher aswell.

So the official forum for Shivering Isles would be here (http://www.bethsoft.com/bgsforums/index.php?showforum=27).
