I would like to remove the crosshairs in order to make the zoom ability a bit more necessary and useful. I don't believe there is a command option that I can bind to a key that allows this (the ToggleHUD option removes too much). Is there a way this can be done?
I imagine replacing the crosshair graphics with transparent ones would accomplish this, but there is no information on how this can be done. Will we have to way for an editor or unpacking tool?
Any information would be appreciated.

I'm not sure if you can remove it, BUT someone posted in here somewhere that you can modify the bioshock config file to disable the auto-aim feature that's geared to console gaming.
Essentlially, if any part of the targeting reticle touches the splicer, etc, then it turns red and your shot will hit. If you modify the conifg file, it will change it to only turn red if the very center of the reticle touches the splicer/etc.
I think the line is something like
AutoAim=true
or
AutoAim=1
change it to the opposite of whatever the config file has... either false or 0... I don't rembmer which one...this will turn of the console auto aiming feature.
BACK UP YOUR CONFIG FILE FIRST! Just in case.
I haven't tested this, but plan on doing so after my next play through.

This was one of the first things I did when I got the game. It requires much more skill when using Plasmids.

Haha, have you been playing Call of Cthulhu by any chance? ;) Great game, that was.
