From the Screenshots and bits of information I can find I have been able to create this list of weapons.
Melee-
Wrench
Firearms-
Magnum
Tommy Gun
Shotgun
Flamethrower
Plasmids-
Flame
Aggressor Irritant
Lightning
Please help add to the list. I do have one question, the Rivet Gun that the Big Daddies carry. Can the player use Rivet Gun? In the latest video it seams that the Big Daddy drops his rivet gun.
Also tho much information has not been given, it appears you can drastically modify your base weapons into something more.

A cool point - also, would it therefore naturally become one of the perks of following a High Strength/Heavy Weapons character development path? I mean, they look huge. Surely a wimpy stealthy character wouldn't be able to lift one.
But if you were role-playing as, say, The Terminator...

you forgot the grenade/rocket launcher, not sure which one it is but my money is on the grenade launcher.
as for the rivet gun, there really hasnt been any info on that either way.
Uponemandus has an exelent list of plasmids
PASSIVE PLASMIDS:
*Agility bonus (may in fact just be speed boost tarted up in the press)
Strength bonus
Health bonus
*Pistol Affinity (don't know if weapon affinities will be singular or encompass all)
Shotgun Affinity
Tommygun affinity
Chemical Launcher/Flamethrower Affinity
Unnanounced Weapon Affinity
Unnanounced Affinity
Chameleon Blood
Brilliant Inventor
Sentient Ammo
Hacking Boost
*Plasmid Creation (alluded to, no idea if it's a plasmid itself)
*Environmental Resistance (could be secondary power of cyro shield, etc)
Sneaky Smasher
Iron Gut
*Electric Field (judging purely by some screenshots- actually maybe it's just electrical bolt's look)
ACTIVE PLASMIDS:
*Fireball (I think this is in addition to pyrokinesis, but I'm not positive)
Pyrokinesis
Speed Boost
*Iceball
Telekenesis
Teleport
Hornets
Decoy
Aggressor Irritant
Security Beacon
Catapult Mine
Little Sister Mimic

Uponemandus's list is pretty comprehensive, but it also contains lots of made-up plasmids. Just making sure people know that.

I also was going to suggest that a high-strength plasmid should maybe be required to wield the rivet gun, but the thing is, how effective could it be in comparison to a fire-arm?
Unless there really is such a shortage of ammo that wielding a rivet gun would work out beneficial, I'm guessing there'd have to be other reasons for requiring strength upgrades.
One thing that really annoyed me about SS2, with regards ammo scarcity, is that you never really ever turned the corner. You could focus on using the wrench in order to stock-pile bullets, but you never got over the hump— half way through the game you're just given a much more powerful mêlée weapon, and just have to continue on as you've been playing since the very beginning.
Also— I'm wondering if we can pick up bottles to use (e.g. bash over the head and then thrust and swipe like a bladed weapon). How about a scalpel (or laser scalpel) from the medical pavilion. I'd also really like a garrote. Maybe with the invention upgrades you could use a piano wire from the piano in the lounge.

A couple of different melee weapons would be nice for variety if the ammo is going to be scarce in BioShock as well. And from a desing standpoint, since Rapture was built to encompass an entire society, you could find an excuss to have almost anything; from a sledgehammer in an industrial/constuction area to a Katana in a historical/musuem/or even residential area.

Yes, I would love if you could (Condemned style) grab a piece of wood to use, and set it on fire. The rivet gun would be great as well but damn that would be a heavy thing to carry. Strength plasmid FTW!

A great idea, indeed. To expand on it, I think it would be a super-great idea if you could pick up and use just about anything as a weapon. It would certainly fit in with the general theme in that the residents of Rapture had to cobble together weapons using whatever they could scavenge from the environment.
In fact, I sorta hoped that the whole weapon-modification aspect would allow you to construct rudimentary weapons from everyday bits of junk. I'm guessing that would make life extremely hard for Irrational though...

Well how about this idea (though it more then likely won't happen). In the beginning the game secretly tracks how you play and provides ammo accordingly. Not so much to the point that it makes the plasmids moot but enough to allow you to play with your guns more.
Either way I plan on playing the game relying heavily on my plasmids first time then guns the second.

Baseball bats from a sports store etc.
I'd like to be able to take a stealth approach, sneak into the lounge, and while the pianist is getting a drink or something, swipe a piano wire from his piano. When he sits back down to play and one of the keys doesn't work you could walk up and wire him wile he's trying to figure it out. It might make quite a comical (black comedy) set piece.

can you use telekinesis on the citizens, or only on objects like teddy bears. if you can, you could pick up the big daddy and throw him off the balcony or into a fire or something :D
there has to be limitations on the strength of plasmids, otherwise you could tear out chunks of the wall and just drown everyone.

Yeah, I agree there has to be limitations. One thing I hope you can get with the telekenesis though is the security bots. Tossing them would be awesome.

I'm envisioning what appears to be a pile of defunct security bots. The Big Daddy doesn't pay any attention to these as his charged has wandered off...again. Too late he notices the cans/grenades/explosives underneath the bots and the trail of clear-ish liquid leading away...

The power of the player's Telekinesis could be done in a levelling fashion, or the acquisition of superior/upgraded plasmids. Basically I see it matching up in a similar fashion to how Psi was used in SS2.
I don't think we should ever be able to Jedi-toss a Big Daddy, but I could envision that during latter parts of the game, when you've become a juiced-up genetic jackhammer, that you could use telekinesis to force-push anything under 100kg, enough to knock them down, leaving them in a vulnerable state for a firearm attack, or possibly pushing them into danger such as electrocution, or a flame wall, or trapping them inside the soundboard of a grand piano and using the lid to smash some sense into them.

As much as I've seen of the plasmid menu so far, it looks as if there are going to be plasmid level ups which will probably coincide with what you've said.
I like the idea that the first level I can barely stop grenade beibng tossed at me and at the end I can throw them away like nothing.
I also like this idea mix with other plasmids, bigger fireballs, more hung like an elephant, stronger affinity to your weapons. It just get better and better until you can blow up the city by freezing a fireball then throwing it at a pile of grenade with telekenesis. A man can dream :P.

I'm hoping for a marked increase in power due to upgrades. One of the things that disappointed me about Undying was how little a difference the upgrades seemed to make.
Also, those things you could summon with one of the spells, didn't really make enough of a difference to be worth summoning. For me I think that was the game's downfall— the spells just weren't powerful enough.

Can't forget the crossbow weapon
But the way that you (most likely) can level up plasmids is by equoping multiple copies of the same one, so that way they grow more powerful

I've seen them in one video (I think it was the "Hunting the Bid Daddy" video, which was very cool) where you catch a very small glimpse of the siloet of a (new) Splicer (bad spelling :o ) small as in for a short time. It might just be a large pipe, which brings me to my next point being that there is a screen shot with the Blue Splicer guy with blue electricity on his hands that is obviously holding a large metal pipe
but maybe you're just counting the weapons that the charactor is holding o.O

The windows are probably 3 meters thick reinforced glass precisely to prevent that from happening.

Rocket launcher? (There is one I know, they mention it in one of the PodCasts) But then again... it might not completley brake it... unless you shot it multiple times

Most likely you won't be able to break windows, no matter what.
I don't really see the point in trying to submerge the whole thing with water, it goes against the point of the game (or part of it): survival.
There might be a scene where you find a cracked window and you need to submerge a certain part of the city in order to complete an objective or something of the sort. I wouldn't count on much more than that however.

Yeah... I agree it cold be used in a puzzle or whatnot, but not anywhere else. The most they could do is show a ultra fast water jet coming out of the hole (due to he enormous pressure at the bottom) for three seconds then have you instantly drop to the ground (explained as being "knocked unconscious" by high velocity spatter), fade to black, game over. However, Irrational is probably busy enough as it is and will, understandably IMHO, probably make all windows indestructible. Explanation? "Pretty much all of the less sturdy walls in Rapture have already been damaged in the war, hence the leaks."

I think it could add some interesting suspense if it were possible to damage every window, or at least most windows, to the point where they can buckle and insta-kill you. Imagine being in a big fight when all of a sudden you hear an unexpected crackling sound and your opponent freezes, looks over at the window that's now groaning disturbingly, and then beats feet out of there.
The only downside I can think of is that if the damage is persistent, you could screw things up by severely damaging a window early on, and thereby set up a situation where you die over and over again in that area because you have to return to it and engage in combat.

odly enough... everyone takes me very seriously whenever I talk about cracked windows... lol
