Did you know, generally, sequels take place to further the story of the first in the series?

And, did you know they didn't make SS3? Its the same reason they will not ever be making a SS3.

.......should be a whole new world as System Shock 2 was to Bioshock.

Never gonna happen......due to licencing and copyright. Bioshock is the 'spiritual' follow up to SS2 (that was the word used I think). If anyone calls Bioshock 'SS Part 3' they'd be in court, unless they owned the intellectual copyright to the original title and game of course.
