View Full Version : Official Confirmation: GAME NOT DELAYED
From a Darkness MySpace bulletin:
From The Darkness Myspace
To my Brotherhood,
Here's the story with the demo:
As I've said before, the game will ALWAYS take precedence and priority over a demo. That means that if the game is falling in behind in something or something isn't working right and needs fixing the people working on the demo will be pulled and made to work on the game. Making a demo is like making an entirely new game. I know you might think, "but if they have a finished level can't that be the demo?"
It's not that easy. Demos need to pass a different set of criteria set by MSFT if it's for the Xbox 360 and Sony if it's for the PS3 than the full game. Otherwise we can't release it. The full game has to pass the criteria too in order to pass or "go gold", but those things (called "TCRs" for MSFT and "TRCs" for Sony) are usually worked on at the end once all the game stuff is finished.
Also, keep in mind the demo has to be as polished and indicative of the final product as possible. If the demo sucks then all of you will think the full game sucks. Moreover, the demo has to play differently so you can get a feel of the overall game and want to play more. I know there are some games like God of War and God of War II that took the first level and they were awesome. But those first levels also gave you that overall feel for the entire game. A single level won't necessarily do that for all games because maybe you wont have enough powers or the level only makes sense and plays well because of the preceding and succeeding levels.
Now, for all the doubters and non-believers in our midst, your purported reasons for why the demo is delayed are laughable at best. Woe be to you who've written that we are "afraid" to post a demo on Xbox Live because of the competition from all the other demos on there. Or those who thought we are intentionally delaying the demo because you think the game is overhyped and that the demo will show how allegedly bad it really is. When the reviews hit next week you will be lucky if I let you polish my shoes with your tongues. We get the review scores early so I know what they are already. You'll have to wait until then before everyone has self-posted evidence of how big a fools you all are.
Your naivete aside, I will tell you exactly why the demo is late. We hit a few snags of the full game and were at risk of being late and missing the release date by a week or two. So we pulled people off the demo to work on the game and now we are on time for release of 6/26 (it SHIPS on 6/25 but will be IN STORE on 6/26). It's axiomatic.
I was told we will be submitting the demo this week for approval. We will have to wait about 2 more weeks to get approval (hopefully) and then post it on XLM and PSN.
As always, if you have any questions you know how to contact me.

woohoo bout time we got some FINAL confirmation and information, thanks 2k thats allll we wanted =]

Well, that was pretty obvious already.
Here are the reviews I personally know of so far:
OXM AU: 9/10
PLAY Magazine UK: 91/100
OXM UK: 9/10
Gamereactor: 8/10... second opinion was 6/10
OXM CZ: 8.3/10
By the way, about the Gamereactor review: supposedly, they used the preview build to review the game. The build was not completely polished and had no multiplayer. Gamereactor has also been known to write previews after watching videos on IGN or other websites. Keep that in mind when you stare at that 6/10.

Nevermind, just checked and it was posted today. Not much of a point to the demo when its that long after release.

Really? You think all purchases of this game will be made at launch?
What happens if someone is thinking of buying this game, say, in a month? But first, they want to see if it's any good, so they play the demo.
The same principle that applies to people on the fence about getting the game now will apply to people on the fence about getting the game later on.

That's impossible. Noone ever buys a game more than three days after it has released....EVER!

Hey hang on a min!
I dont want to be a doubter but usually in other forums people ask for PROOF I could have written something like this and posted it, does it then mean it is real?
I am not doubting its authenticity but there is no link, nor have any one of the 2K team themselves come on here to validate the comments posted by the OP therefore until 2K themselves say something on here then it cannot be taken as gospel.
Anyhow I say release the demo after the game is complete that way those that are unsure can either go get the game or wait for a demo.

I can't post a link to it because it's a MySpace bulletin, which means that you have to be a friend of the Darkness page in order to view it. But, if you choose not to believe me, the moderator "Newbeing" decided to close the ridiculous "DELAY THREAD" after I posted this bit of info, and said:
With the official announcement in the other thread I can now officially and gladly close this thread.
Satisfied?
Alternatively, maybe if you were so interested and dying to get information about this game, you would have gotten this bulletin yourself.

LOL anyone can make a myspace page I could go make one posing as 2K staff and saying Bioshock is out next year ooooh the riots that would create.
Not doubting you as I dont feel like being a hater for no reason I am just sceptical of your source.

The Myspace page is linked to from the official Darkness website. Not many companies make a habit of knowingly linking to false sites.
Brotherhood of The Darkness is on my Myspace friend list too. I've seen this exact same bulletin. I guess if some really do feel like keeping up their false hope of a delay, then nothing will change their minds until monday/tuesday.

The only place I will trust for information regarding the game is THIS SITE.
Or a Press release by 2K themselves the last place I am going to trust is some random myspace site.

That's exactly what I was about to post.
SuperSaiyan4, if you're that bent on being skeptical, just wait until June 26th (assuming that you live in the U.S.) and see for yourself.
As HellblazerUSA said, the MySpace page is linked from the OFFICIAL DARKNESS WEBSITE. This same MySpace page informed us all way back when that the game will be shipped on the 25th. It told us that there would be a demo. It told us that this demo will be delayed. And now it's telling us that the game will NOT be delayed.
So far, all of these things have happened, of course, with the exception of the game shipping since the 25th has yet to arrive. But you will notice that Gamestop.com and EBgames.com list the shipping date as the 25th. The MySpace bulletin that informed us of this shipping date came about two or three weeks before either EB or Gamestop were listing it as 6/25. At the time, they were listing it with placeholder dates: 5/1, and later 6/1.
And besides, it's not like I'm posting something ridiculous. Had I been posting "Darkness Delayed By a Month," you'd be correct to find it hard to believe. But I'm posting something that's been know for quite a while now: THE DARKNESS SHIPS JUNE 25TH.
But, as I said: just wait and see for yourself.
The only place I will trust for information regarding the game is THIS SITE.
Or a Press release by 2K themselves the last place I am going to trust is some random myspace site.

What I am saying unless you can PROVE it via a link like the other guy has just said on the The Darkness site there is a LINK to their myspace then yes its official.
But no it has taken 3 pages to advise it only to still not link to it.
You go to ANY other forum and tell them you checked a myspace page that had this info I will be very surprised if they didnt say the same things as me in some form or another.
Otherwise it becomes another one of these:
'a friend of a friend knows this guy...' you get my point?

OK Buster.
Here: http://www.2kgames.com/thedarkness/local.htm
That's the official website. You can see on the bottom it has a link to the "Brotherhood?"
Then, on the MySpace page it links to: http://blog.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=blog.view&friendID=102472620&blogID=278604082&MyToken=bb88e5d7-1ddd-44fd-9f2c-9f94f442259e

I was being sarcastic about that <_<
You cant just go around posting info without valid evidence its one of many forum rules :p
But the info itself was pretty obvious.
It was like me posting "the sky is blue."
Everyone had already known the game's shipping date. I just posted that for all the fools who thought that it would be deleted.

Of course everyone does NOT want the game to be delayed and rumours start just like this where someone could have easily had said 'Official game has been delayed'
Official comments should be linked to the official source as not everyone like me know that the developers have their own myspace page, personally i think that is not a overall great idea as such annoucments confirming something should be put on forums by the official source i.e. developers or publishers.
EDIT: delayed, not deleted.

Just STFU. You were wrong- deal with it. Stop this childish insistence that it's not right if you don't know about something. Someone else proved you wrong- several times- and yet you still try and act as if you have some sort of moral freakin' high ground.
You were out of the loop. Get over it.

It was posted by the developers, on the MySpace page...
Coming into the new age of YouTube and MySpace, people should think that when 2K, the official darkness website, Top Cow's official MySpace, and Top Cow's official website all have a link to 'The Brotherhood' That they assume even idiots can find it and know it's official. And know that they'll use that as their news source. It's much easier and more informative to post information on a site that people may accidently or purposely find via myspace than a website people may never see....
Plus it is more independant than a 2k forum or what not....Although I don't disagree that a link should have been posted (but as the topic creator stated he didn't know he could post blogs/bulletins). It is common fact to most that the Brotherhood, although not always right due to circumstance, wouldn't lie.
