pausing

I am having a very annoying problem with my bioshock game everything at times doesnt start properly were it just wamts to run in a window and in the actual gameplay when I am walking every few seconds I stop moving now I doubt it is my system but here are my specs

duel core cpu totaling 6ghz
2gb ram
e-geforce 8600 video card

please help
