How close are we to knowing the recommended and minimum hardware system requirements?
Anyone wanna speculate?
I'm guessing 1gb ram and a 256MB VC of Nvidia7600 series or ATIx1600(SM3.0) series or better with any proccessor after the P4, mobiles aside.... ...although a ti4300 could do it, I bet!
My Rig: (think it'll play it?)
P4 3.2 ~3.59 Nothwood s478
Sapphire X800gt ~%17 OC on Gigabyte 8KNXP rev.2 875 chipset
2GB Kingston HyperX DDR400
XFI Extreme Music
My desired Rig: (Stop drooling, and hail to those lucky enough to have something comparable)
QX6700 Extreme
Dual 8800GTX in SLI on EVGA 680i rev.2 chipset
4GB Kingston HyperX DDR1066
XFI Extreme Gamer
My Problem: (I can't save a dime for the life of me!)
4-pack Milwaukee Beast Ice 16oz
Beef and Cheese combo sticks
Child Support
Ramen noodles (best. hangover food. ever.)

I'd say invest your earned money on your child and not a marginally more powerful computer, vastly more worthwhile than a toy. Your current one will more than suffice a visual quality play @ 1024*768, anything higher may need some texture or reflective detail reduction.

I never, ever pay much attention to the required/reccomended specs for a PC game, that are printed on the box. What ever it is,I just hope for the best, and upgrade often.I have a 8800GTS from eVGA and a E4300 @ 3.44Ghz + 2 gigs of PC8000 ram and a Creative X-Fi Platinum,I grabbed off Ebay for under 90$ I have a small scsi raid array,on a Mylex caching controller that has 128mb of ECC ram on it.Much faster then a pair of 3rd gen raptors in raid 0.
All the parts in my pc were bought on sale, and or with rebates attached to them,so I saved a buck here and there. My 8800 was 459 Cdn @ NCIX.The ram from Crucial was 259.00 on a one day Newegg sale with free 3 day delivery. The X-Fi I have, was won at auction NIB for near half price. My two 15k cheetahs, were bought on a forum called HardOCP,they have a for sale for trade forum, where one can find some simply incredibly low priced hardware in excellent condish. The Mylex controller + ram,was purchased at a government auction here in Ottawa for 45.00,hundreds less then retail price.
I also bought a Arctic Cooling Preezer 7 pro for 5 dollars on HarcOCP + 6 for delivery.I bought several MS Wave 4000 ergonimc keyboards, for only 21 dollars each brand new,at a government auction here in town.I grabbed 7 of them on the cheap as part of a lot sale, when they retail at BestBuy for near 60$ + taxes... All of the above was bought brand new.My Dell 2005FPW was bought on the cheap as well,on a for sale forum for 325 with 5 year extended warranty,it was built in 2005 dec.I got it in June of 06.A few months ago,I bought a NIB Dell A04 2407WPF for only 701 Cdn,with the 5 year advanced exchange warranty, from Dell direct.Way less then retail.Grabbed coupons off Ebay, and then waited for them to go down in price, then I ordered. My point is if you are willing to shop around and invest time in looking aorund the web,you can build a fairly high end rig, without killing your pocket book.
:)
Your current pc should be fine though,as long as you dont expect to run the game at insane detail or resolution levels. Good luck ! :)

Thanks, Raveness, you're comments are not only logical, but also followed. I consider myself a good father who literally yearns for every second with my boy, obstacles with the ex aside.
Not to drag it out, as it's not the topic of the post, but being a good parent depends on your ability to lead a postive and good example for your children while still maintaining your own happiness which furthers the first accolade's effectiveness.
As far as your comments about my rig, yes, I already figured I'd have to turn some things down to play it at a nice framerate but I just registered last night and wanted to get involved here.
Have any kids?
btw, are you a raver or something?

If you do upgrade, send me your old parts :p
I don't have any kids. I know I'm not ready for them yet, as I would demand perfection from myself before taking total responsibility for another human being. I'm too selfish, heck I may never be ready for kids, plus the prospect of something living inside me for 9 months, then shoving it like a turkey through a keyhole makes me shudder a little......maybe adoption :D

P.S. Here's some info. re. required hardware for Alan Wake (it wouldn't serprise me if BioShock was in the same ballpark)...
Remedy have showcased Alan Wake running smoothly on an Intel Core 2 Quad system overclocked at 3.73Ghz with a GeForce 7900GTX.
Markus from Remedy has said “Alan Wake would pretty much not run on any single core processors, although it may be possible to run on single-core Pentium 4 processors with Hyper Threading enabled, with noticably reduced image quality/experience.”
The game will use a separate processing thread dedicated to physical calculations. Since Remedy is using Havok, there is no support for Ageia PhysX cards, so all the physical calculations are done using the CPU. Markus has explained that a normal Core 2 Quad will use 80% of one core for physical calculations.

For my money, I'm betting BioShock will not require anywhere near the horse-power that Alan Wake does.
BioShock looks great, but it is not pushing the graphical boundaries as titles like Crysis and Alan Wake are.
BioShock will be a great deal more fun than those games, at least for a person like me, but it won't look nearly as amazing.
