View Full Version : How to force DirectX 9 to load with the game?
The blue screen of death is tearing the fun right out of this game...I've tried almost everything but...
At some point I read a post which stated you need to force Directx 9 to load by adding a trailer at the end of the shortcut....
My problem is that the post seems buried and I'm not able to get anything with the search engine.
Can someone link this post or simply explain how it is done? Does it work? I've tried about everything else.
Thanks in advance.

Run the game from a shorcut with -dx9 appended to the end.
I've tried adding that to the end of the target file and start in but the shortcut won't accept it...Can anyone please give me the exact syntax of how this is used (i.e. where in the line it goes)?
Thanks,

Thanks, this is how it looks forcing on the demo. just go one space passed the end quotation mark and type -dx9 and then click apply and ok
"C:\Program Files\2K Games\BioShock Demo\Builds\Release\Bioshock.exe" -dx9

Find your shortcut for Bioshock. Right click, Properties. In the line listed as Target, that's where you add -dx9.
Oh, right after that, add -nointro. Gets rid of the annoying intro movies.

I can confirm this is the best way of doing this.
Or in Windows Vista, right click on the games icon and select "Run in Direct9"
