View Full Version : So, is the "high detail shaders" option going to be fixed in the patch for the PC?

I'd really like to know. I'm sick of not being able to play the game at the full potential my rig COULD be running it at because of all the constant crashing at loading screens.

People have been asking this every day since the game launched and still no reply from anyone at 2K about it, not even an acknowledgement that the problem exists, let alone a promise to fix it or info on progress of a patch.

It would be criminal if there wasn't a patch, but honestly who knows, some games never get fixed.

I get the loading crashes with High Detail Shaders on too, as does my brother. Only way I could play the game was to install Vista and it's fine under DX10 (DX9 crashes under Vista too but with the hacking crash), but it runs anything up to 25% slower under Vista from the tests I've done which really sucks, and tripple buffering doesn't work under DX10 so I'm stuck with tearing.

Did you put "UseTripleBuffering=True" into your BioShock.ini file under [D3DDrv.D3D10Device], as well as forcing it on in your driver's settings? Because that would make all the difference. ;)

No but I'll give it a try, cheers. Works without any ini tweaks under DX9.

Yeah... I'm pretty tired of having to turn off all the eye candy at the end of every level before I load the next level... then turning it all on (except shaders) again at the beginning of the next.

I technically don't HAVE to do this but the random crashes are too much of a pain to risk not doing it.
