Can't edit thread title, but it doesn't matter what I post, the odds of this game being playable any faster are nil.

2k games has released a full price "Pay to beta test for us" game, and I got suckered right along with the rest of you all.

2k Greg, sorry for the title ... but suffice it to say that the digital deluxe save game load issue is not only not fixed, it has now started affecting people it didn't affect prior to the "hotfix"

Good job speaking rudely to our mods over coding they didn't make, over a patch they didn't make. You should be ashamed.

Mind you, I nearly guarantee the programmers didn't decide when the game was to hit shelves, but they sure as hell are the ones doing their best to fix the problems the product shipped with.

Please lock this thread?

It was the "problem solved" part that I took offense to. Not only was the problem not solved, it began to affect people it did not previously affect. That seems to be a bit counter to the post yeah?

I appreciate how much you have worked towards helping folks in the support forums. I've made extensive use of the search feature and seen you in there a lot. Unfortunately for me ... I don't know what you can suggest that I already haven't gone through on my own.

Exceptionally frustrating the state this game was released in, and the absolute vacuum of official company support help.

And what about all those people who had that Hotfix actually help resolve their savegame problems? Before you post - find out what Hotfix was all about.
You should be raddished for this, sir!

I know all about what it was all about. I find it quite ironic that the hotfix meant to fix this issue has actually caused the very same issue for people who did not previously experience it.

And I'm not running any weird configuration here. I would hazard a guess that thousands of other enthusiast's are running the same exact rig as I am with precisely the same parts... obviously 2k's programmers did not fully understand what was causing the error. Their "fix" has quite possibly fixed the error for some people, but it has also introduced the very same error. Losing an epic length game at turn 820 with only 3 cultural policies left for a cultural victory is staggeringly demoralizing.

I put up with the really super long turns because I found the game enjoyable, despite the other bugs which were less annoying than the super long turns. This just crossed the threshold of what I'll put up with.

please close this thread. People are really getting tiresome with their lack of programming knowledge.

When BFBC2 hit the shelves earlier this year I bought it the very first day, however that game was as bug ridden as civ V is not, if not worse. lousy hit registry, random game crashes to mention a few.

After 2 months the bugs were gone, after one additional month the game had been balanced aswell.

I think the same goes for this product, it may be rushed because of the release date but nevertheless admit that you enjoy playing even though it's buggy, and that you would have bought it in 3 months if that'd been the release date, be glad that you have product to play and stop whining about lost money, as you would have spent them later anyway.

No, I didn't get suckered. I knew there would be a lot of issues just like Civ 4. I quite enjoy it for the most part and look forward to future improvements.

I bid you 'Good Day'.

In fairness, 2K is the publisher and Fireaxis is the developer. The 2K folks have been doing a good job keeping people informed of the state of the game and upcoming changes.

But 2K is the one that rushed the release therefore it is their fault.

But Firaxis is the one who didn't get the game finished on time.

It's sad that the general level of what is considered 'releasable' is slipping so much. I hope it doesn't continue on this downward trend.

I'll play ball with this. Show me some pc games that were released bug less in the last 5 years. Since you refered to this as a general level?

On top of that, game finished on time? Really? Sir how many games have you turned out? I'm guessing your a game developer to right?

So all your games come out on time?

I agree. We are being paid to beta test, but some how I'm really enjoying it a lot. But it's a bad, unethical practice, to release unfinished games. But is it not fair? We didn't have to buy it. And you know companies wouldn't do this if people didn't buy their beta releases. Though I do feel like a lot of people were tricked into buying it without researching it first by the really good reputation that the series has.

It's not too much to ask for some QC on hotfixes. This hotfix took me from enjoying the game (although frustrated with the slow down that starts in the early mid game and makes the "please wait" during the AI turns take 2 minutes or longer) to registering on these forums to rant.

I completely understand that businesses think it's OK to release buggy products and let people pay them money to guinea pig ... I don't believe that it's really acceptable, but gamers aren't known for patience, so the companies continue to get away with it.

But ... there is at least one company who does their best to only release games when they are ready and polished. I just got back from their yearly convention in fact ... A certain 3rd installment of a franchise looks more polished right now (at around 1/3rd done according to their devs) than any game I've seen at release from another company.

Funny how the one company who refuses to sacrifice quality for a quick paycheck is also the top in the world. You'd think that would inspire other companies to strive for quality too. *sigh*

Hi guys!

Greg will be coming by to talk to you about this but given the tone in this thread, I'm shutting it down. Greg's a 2K Games Community Manager and he's hear to talk to you and make sure you get all the information from us and from the devs and that the devs hear what you have to say. However, treating him this way isn't okay with me, and so therefore this thread is getting closed.
