November 9th, we all switch to COD black ops

Hooray, no more Bioshock! No more lagged matches because the host is 10,000 miles away! No more stuns!

As a PC player, I'm trying to imagine what it will be like actually being able to play game modes other than team deathmatch. Or being able to play late at night. Or being able to quit a bad match and then play a new one with different players, because there are more than 9 people in the world playing at once.

It will be a brave new world.

Black Ops? Really X? I'm not likely to leave BS2 as my primary shooter, probably b/c its the only one I'm really good at- im kinda bad at TF2 and I'm not a fan of more realistic shooters. That said, BS2 is pretty flawed, so I really wish Infinite was gonna have some multiplayer- I bet Irrational could do a good job on it technical wise with maybe a bit better balance, but for me nothing is likely to beat BS2 gameplay at its best any time soon.

I've heard that the SP is fantastic. As Rooster Teeth once put it "It's like a ☺☺☺☺☺☺☺ to the army" kinda awesome.

Black Ops will be great, Reach is bad and i traded it in for medal of honour which is pretty damn good, imagine if you will, a world where bioshock 2 multiplayer is played on 2k servers.........

I've played my time on Bioshock 2, and definantly played my time on Mw2. I rented MoH and didn't exactly fancy the multiplayer (I played the single player through though, which was fun).

I already have Black Ops on pre-order, and I wouldn't have done so if I didn't think that it will easily surpass Mw2's exploit-filled-cluster☺☺☺☺ multiplayer... (not saying I didn't play the hell out of Mw2 and BS2, it's just after so long they became VERY repetitive...)

The big thing I'm excited about in Black Ops (non-multiplayer related) is the campaign. It has the most intriguing storyline I've seen yet from a CoD game (given there mostly about the MP). I think that the 'Cold War black operations' is a good concept, and I'm excited to see how it will play out.

Also am interested in seeing what BS: Infinite's multi will be like, if they do decide it to be worth putting in. But since that's in 2012, and I don't own an x-box (so no reach...), I'll probably be playing a crap load of Black Ops (provided the Multiplayer isn't a complete tank, even though I doubt it will...)

As a side note, the only game (in terms of MP) I never have seemed to not get tired of is Team Fortress 2. Dunno what about it =/ PC mods ftw I guess =D

Well, I dislike MW2 quite a lot, actually, and can only play it for small amounts of time. I know there are other problems with it, but I have faith in Treyarch for Black Ops. I know others don't, but as long as I enjoy it, I'm fine.

One chance? :confused: don't you just respawn?

COD has a ton of stuff going for it, but a lot of things wrong:

- Knife > gun :mad:

- When someone is running in for the knife kill bullets don't work on them. :mad:

- Spawn traps (spawning system is better in BS2 then in COD)

- Killstreaks giving outsized benefits; I got a Pavlow once that got me 18 kills :eek:

- Boosters in every game

- Unlimited grenades for grenade launcher

That is the very reason Halo makes me want to throw my controller at my monitor. It's not that I suck (I'm actually very skilled at the game) it's just that the slightest lag will stop my one shot kill from registering.

Emblems, Tags, and Callsigns were in MW2 so thats not copying. But theatre was pretty much confirmed for a Warfare game ever since 4. I dont know why it wasnt in MW2. File share is pretty cool idea to copy though

There will be the ability to 'buy' attack dogs and release them on your foes. In the multiplayer beta there was a glitch where it turns out there is no limit to the dogs that can be released. At the end of one game it was estimated there was over 200 dogs roaming the map, even fighting with each other. Since there is wager matches there is concern people will be betting on dog fights. When asked if they will fix the glitch and dog fights the developers said "No, no one would ever spam the dog." :eek:

The Commando from MW2 is back with a vengence; in Black Ops the Commando runs even faster. And, since there is the introduction of diving in the game dying to a lightning fast commando who can dive 50 yards across the map and kill you will be commonplace. "We always listen to our fanbase" said a Black Ops programmer. :mad:

The only thing being filled faster then pre - orders for Black Ops is plans for boosting. Since there is a Midnight release it has been estimated that there will be over a thousand games full of boosting started up by 12:30. :eek:

No They left it, I was REALLY surprised they didnt get rid of "Tactical Incertions" As that really made boosting easy.

Oh Okay I thought they where still in Free-For-All. Well I'm glad they made that change. I am very happy they got rid of nukes, they really where not a good idea to begin with. There will still be a TON of boosting though, but that can be expected.

As a CoD hater- and seeing how a good deal of the community that I have seen are also CoD haters- I doubt we'll all switch to Black Ops.


By the way, if you have such a problem with BS2's MP, why even play it? There are other MP games out there- Battlefield, Medal of Honor, Red Dead Redemption, Halo: Reach... some other games I can't think of... :p

Actually I am. After a while, even though it's different, it's still the same old Halo that I find boring and with Infection customs being FUBAR now, the only reason I'll go back to it is to get the new achievements so I can keep it under my 100% game completion collection.

I'm getting black ops, but i am gonna be noob as a start since i don't play CoD games, i ma work my way to the top. Bioshock MP isn't that bad. I'm gonna switch from bio2 mp when i need some break from modern weapons and need some old weapons and plasmid powahs, since bio 2 mp is one of the most unique game.

And i want to ask if i delete my Bioshock 2 Downloable content (4gb something) and reinstall only the sinclair,metro, character pack. will it affect my rank or mess with something in my game

No it isn't, the knifing range was changed so you need to be around an arms reach before you can get a kill. There is no commando, no oma, no dangerclose, and even no stopping power so you don't die instantly.

I agree with you I went with my friend yesterday because he wanted to buy it, so we played a bit at his house, this was the first time i was every playing a cod and wow it is rubbish, i hate it, Why are people so obsessed with it, today i went to college, and people just wouldnt stop talking about it. I like the varations and amount of weapons. I like that they actually tested it out before release and didn't sell a broken game. But, it still doesn't beat Bioshock. The maps are extremely generic and if you go in the buildings they all look the same. if you thought osk's are bad in BS then black ops will drive you mad. I swear every gun takes half of a split second to kill someone. The knife thing is riDICKulous and everyone looks the same. But, I shall continue to play because the pros out weigh the cons.

I'm willing to give it a shot and am going to pick it up this weekend, but the thing that has made me angry over the game is that the cross bow is a secondary weapon, and only has explosive bolts, instead of the quiet and stealthy normal bolts that should have been in the crossbow :mad:

Yeah, as a crossbow fan on BioShock, I was disappointed as well. You should be able to change ammo-types or something. It takes too long to reload to be worth it anyway, haha.

cause with shotgun you dont hide, you go straight and kill with fierce and courage.
sniping is often about hiding and waiting a lot in the same place, and its a coward way to fight in my opinion :p

at least in bioshock camping isnt that useful and you can hardly hide, whatever loadout you use :D

I got black ops yesterday. I luv this game so far. The story mode is really good and the action is hardcore intense. The multiplayer seems to have improved by a Lot since MW2... and the zombie killing is really funny/fun. Most of the game testers at the office have this game. Some of them, who had it since the day it came out say it gets boring after a while but overall good game.

Every game on ps3 that available on Xbox will have poorer online feature. The game creators do not pay that much attention to ps3 online functionality because it’s free. The Xbox has almost no problem with online functionality because the creator pays far more attention to that base system because they’re a cost for online. Unless Ps3 starts charging for online functionality, that part of the game will never change..my suggestion: get a Xbox if you want a bug free online gaming.

I've had no online lag or disconnects on Black Ops, and it would definitely be exaggerating saying it's worse than Bio2.

And ever since MW2 was received poorly by a lot of players, people just like to hate on Black Ops. It's a "superiority" thing, I suppose. It's a popular thing on the Bio forums to hate the CoD series. We get it, you don't like it. Please stop repeating your non-reasoned hate towards it.

I am really sorry to say this, man.

I got Black Ops, and it is ☺☺☺☺ing awesome. Ten times better than MW2 (not to quote Rybow), and Nazi Zombies is back! Plus, the single player is actually very interesting and fun to play.

FAULTS:

-Half the time when I am in a Nazi Zombies lobby, everyone else leaves when there is three seconds left before the match starts. Probably a glitch, or that's just how cool I am. XD

-Knife= extremely overpowered.

-Claymores can be a real ☺☺☺☺☺.

IMPROVEMENTS:

-Customization is incredibly upgraded. You can truly personalize your profile and your guns.

-The maps are all really cool and mostly have a really cool story to them.

-One of the multiplayer maps has a DOUBLE RAINBOW, ALL THE WAY! XD

-Zombies are back. New zombie types, new zombie levels, and the original four surviors are back! (Richtofer, Nikolai, Dempsey, Takeko (I think)) The dialogue between the survivors is much more humorous. The quote in my location is one of Richtofer's new ones.

-Game comes with tons of maps.

-Servers keep track of some really cool statistics. (How many times BO players have collectively ran around the world, how many metric tons of C4 has been thrown, how many times BO players have collectively fallen the height of Mt. Everest, ect.)

-Snipers are more balanced. You're not getting sniped every ten seconds.

-You can silence everyone in the world who has a headset, so you don't have to hear what a noob you are every ten seconds.

Well I have been playing Blops quit a bit recently, and have seen the flaws with the MP.Really, it is nowhere near as bad as people say, they just hate because it carries the name Call of Duty.

The biggest improvement in this game, is the support. Already they are patching things, fixing the knifing and the sound.

When playing you can't just go and play how you would BS, you have to be careful as any mistake may get you killed. They are two very different games and cod leans towards a more realistic aspect. So yes you are going to die easily, unless you can adapt to the game and play smart.

I played Call of Duty: Black Ops with my roommate the other day and in each of the few matches we played, our teammates insulted and berated us on their microphones. It was brutal. :(

They really should do whatever patching they are working on now faster. The MP is a joke as it is. This is currently the worst MP I've ever played. Nearly everyone camps. Rank WILL win most of the time. Say your a rank that has positive k/d's consistently. He will be destroyed by a rank 50 with a China Lake (GL), Top tier Assault Rifle with Suppressor and customized scope, and Pro Perks. Have fun playing with this idiotic system until you're a higher up. Sure, it's most likely better than MW2. RC cars are ☺☺☺☺ing stupid. The devs probably thought thiw would be some unique crap but it's really a cheap piece or ☺☺☺☺. It is an easy to obtain, hard to hit, instant kill that moves very fast. It just adds to higher ground camping due to being unable to be on the ground.

Sitting in a building sprinting to different rooms while claymore camping is so ☺☺☺☺ing pathetic. Goddamn it, if I wanted to play a campy FPS I'd play BFBC2 or MoH. I want fast paced gameplay. Wager matches are just fail, every mode is a huge camp fest. ☺☺☺☺ like Ghost encourages camping. Sniping is pathetic and extremely nerfed. There is only one bolt action, and overall, there aren't many guns. The menus flash, and this just shows poor coding, etc. Spawning really sucks like in every MP. I'm pretty sure Kotick, Treyarch, and Activision will release over-priced DLC in the future. Selling 650 million in five days probably means, "Hey, let's not give a ☺☺☺☺ about our poor saps for customers and try to make more money!".

To tell the truth, I'd be lieing if I said I didn't enjoy the game at times and thought things like Theater Mode isn't cool. Zombies is fun, SP was meh. Customization is alright, not amazing. There could be lots of improvement, but it's probably not happening...

I enjoy this game but haven't been playing alot. I don't think i will prestige much in this game. Its a fun game but the whole call of duty gameplay to me is a bit stale. I think its more balanced and better crafted than the other call of duties but not a lot brand new. Now somebody will say their's wager matches and money system but those things get stale too. I'm more pumped for getting AC brotherhood.

Well, I played the Black Ops SP and loved it...there is even some chapters I have gone back to replay since they were so fun like stealing a Russian Hind (sp?) helicopter. The 'Combat Training' mode is awesome...but, of course there is vast differences between how a human plays the game and a computer. In the end I believe the Combat Training helped me perform but playing BS 2 helped me more so now I am competative in my gaming.

Black Ops is much better then MW2, MW2 might be the first game in my life I ever sell back (I still have my Sega and Original Playstation with the games for them).

But, 3arc borrowed the code from Infinity Ward for knifing and lag.

When I was playing the Combat Training mode and watching 3arc's videos I thought: "hey, they cleaned up the knifing problem, so it should be fun." But, I was wrong. I had stopped playing MW2 so I could play Medal of Honor and in doing so I realized how much I hated MW2 with the knifing, grenade launchers with unlimited ammo and the boosters. So, I get into Black Ops to play against live opponents and lo and behold my first game I died to knifes 6 times! :(

3arc is more responsive then Infinity Ward and you know who in the fact they have patched some stuff already...footstep sounds, stopping people from leaving the map, etc..

But, 4 things bother me greatly:

1) Knifing - Black Ops should be a First Person SHOOTER, so the fact knifing figures in so heavily is ridiculous. Wings has suggested that it should be a 2 hit kill for people wearing a flak jacket, but I will go a step farther...it should take 2 hits to kill someone with full health, 3 hits for someone with a flak jacket on. Lets hope 3arc fixes it soon.

2) Kill Cam - Did you ever lose a gun battle and when you watch the kill cam much to your surprise you were not even firing your gun? How the h*** does that happen? Lag? if so don't put me in the game if I am lagging so bad.

3) Why are they matching up people who are ranked in the 40s or prestiged already with new players? In BS2 I always thought it was because the player base is so small that different ranks play together. But, in Black Ops I can go online with over 900,000 other players and be matched up against someone 30 ranks over my head? I saw where a programmer said the game is more balanced so an experienced player will not have that big of advantage over a new one. Well, he is full of S***. Just the map knowledge alone with a general sense of the spawning areas not to mention the better guns gives the more experienced player the edge. That is the real reason they want newbies playing against the higher ranked players; to help the k/d averages and keep people playing longer.

4) Cars: in the video it looks fun, but when you get into a game and car after car after car keeps being driven around the map it gets old fast. And, why does a little remote car have a bigger blast radius then a Predator missile?

I know how to fix knifing, two ways really:

1.) Make the knife a secondary weapon that you have to switch to before using, regular melee could still be used but it would take 4 hits to kill
2.) Remove the lunge so you have to be in arms reach to melee


3.)Nerf damage of FAMAS and accuracy+spread of AK74......just thought I'd put this here too...

I've had no online lag or disconnects on Black Ops, and it would definitely be exaggerating saying it's worse than Bio2.

And ever since MW2 was received poorly by a lot of players, people just like to hate on Black Ops. It's a "superiority" thing, I suppose. It's a popular thing on the Bio forums to hate the CoD series. We get it, you don't like it. Please stop repeating your non-reasoned hate towards it.

That's not referring to those complaining about lag, but against the one's without an excuse.

I think black ops is sick, I haven't gone a match with less than 50 kills in awhile now. Although like all of the call of duty games, the knifing sucks, but the SP is amazing, one of the best. It has a great storyline and is really fun. In my opinion 8/10.

They really should do whatever patching they are working on now faster. The MP is a joke as it is. This is currently the worst MP I've ever played. Nearly everyone camps. Rank WILL win most of the time. Say your a rank that has positive k/d's consistently. He will be destroyed by a rank 50 with a China Lake (GL), Top tier Assault Rifle with Suppressor and customized scope, and Pro Perks. Have fun playing with this idiotic system until you're a higher up. Sure, it's most likely better than MW2. RC cars are ☺☺☺☺ing stupid. The devs probably thought thiw would be some unique crap but it's really a cheap piece or ☺☺☺☺. It is an easy to obtain, hard to hit, instant kill that moves very fast. MP is fun when everyone isn't camping and ganging like little ☺☺☺☺☺es, but that barely ever happens. ☺☺☺☺ claymores.... ugh.

More than half the maps unnecessarily cater and feed campers, which is rediculous. I really don't know why they don't let you choose which map you want to play on when searching-- Err, I mean being forced to join a match that's probably open due to rage quits, and the team your on is under 2-3000 points (TDM). Win/Loss is ☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺ted by being unable to simply leave without it being counted as a loss. Spawning is still terrible.

There should be game options in Private, Local, and Solo Zombies. Sometimes you want to tear up some living dead with unlimited money or something, rather than try to survive.

Pretty much. I'm excited about this game and I really really wanna play it, but I'm going to be cautious. If this game gets my approval, then it's a good game. And believe me, I won't give it that nod for a while and it'll be hard to obtain.

It's been AMAZING so far. Out of nearly 100 games, only one of them was dominated by air support. It was like the sky was raping me and my teammates. Needless to say I rage quit :rolleyes: haha

And, for the first time ever in a CoD game, my win/lose ration is over 1.00. I think it's at 1.31 right now and my k/d is around 1.5 and growing :D

You unlock the Zombies map, "Five" yet? My favorite one, as far as characters go. Shi No Numa's my favorite for the environment.
